Hope Loses a Friend

There once was a
unicorn named Hope.
She had a friend
named Johnny.
Johnny was a dragon.
Every day Hope would
go to Johnny’s house
to play. They would
play tag, hide and
seek, and other games
in the meadow where
they lived.
But one day,
Johnny came to
Hope with bad
news. “I’m
moving away” said
Johnny. Johnny’s
dad had gotten a
better job in the
mountains. The
mountains were
very far away from
Hope’s meadow.
“Oh no!” said
Hope. “You
can’t move!”
Hope was
very upset. “I
know!” she
said. “I bet I
can talk your
dad into
staying!”
When Hope got to
Johnny’s house, she
found many moving
boxes. Johnny’s dad was
talking to the moo-ving
cows. “Mr. Dragon,
please don’t move. If
you stay, I’ll give you
candy!” said Hope.
“I’m sorry, Hope,”
said Mr. Dragon.
“We have to
move.” “No!” said
Hope. “You can’t
move! You’re a
meany!” Hope
stamped her
hooves and ran
away.
Hope cried until
her mom told her
to go to bed. In
the morning,
Hope woke up to
a lot of noise.
The moo-ving cows were
driving the truck away.
Hope watched quietly. “He
didn’t leave,” Hope said to
herself. “NO WAY!” She
ran to Johnny’s house, but
Johnny’s house was empty.
“Johnny is still here…” she
tried to convince herself.
“This is so
unfair!” Hope
yelled. She
stamped her
hooves and
huffed. Hope
was very angry
at Johnny, even
though it
wasn’t his fault.
Suddenly, Mrs.
Unicorn was at Hope’s
side. She hugged Hope
until Hope was no
longer crying. “It’s okay
to feel angry or sad,
but at some point, you
need to move on.
Johnny is in a better
place now, and his dad
got a great job.”
Hope sniffed and nodded,
wiping her tears. “I guess
you’re right Mom, but I
really miss him,” Hope
said. Mom said,
“Everything is going to be
all right.”
Johnny had always been Hope the
Unicorn’s best friend. One day, Hope
