Dear Friends, City Message

CITY We’ve often talked of Rialto as the Jewel of the Inland Empire. You
can add “Economic Driver” to that description.
MESSAGE
As we’ve seen in recent months, years of planning and leadership
are paying off in the form of new projects, businesses, employment
opportunities and retail establishments throughout our city.

In August, ALDI opened its first Rialto supermarket at 630 W.
Foothill Blvd. Further north, the Renaissance Marketplace is quickly taking shape, with several stores
already open, and restaurant and the new Cinemark close behind. Renaissance Plaza, just east of the
Marketplace, will feature a Cracker Barrel and Sonic Drive-In.

Others, too, increasingly see Rialto as a place to invest. Recently, A Chatsworth-based private investor
paid $2.9 million for the site of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at 1877 N. Riverside Ave., while Westcore
Properties paid $11.4 million for a 130,000-square-foot warehouse/distribution facility at 360 S. Lilac
Ave.

All of these underscore the breadth of appreciation for what Rialto has to offer businesses. They know
they can succeed here – that their investment will pay off. They also like the idea of laying down roots
here, becoming part of a city that sees opportunity and isn’t afraid to innovate.

The Renaissance project is a great example of that – once a struggling general aviation airport soon to be
a regional retail and economic center.

The whole community benefits from all of this, in the form of jobs, tax revenues to support community
services and rising property valuations. It’s a win-win.

As we welcome our newly arriving business partners, the support of our existing business community
and our residents has never been more important. It’s your sense of community that continues to make
Rialto a great city.

Fire Department CITY OF RIALTO FIRE DEPARTMENT

Wildland Fire Season

The 2018 wildland fire season has been the most destructive
in California’s recorded history. With 18 large wildland fires
burning and more than 1 million acres scorched there are still
more than 14,000 firefighters fighting wildfires throughout the
state. Sadly, eight firefighters have lost their lives protecting our
communities. Your Rialto Firefighters have been engaged in the
firefight in Southern, Central and Northern California. To protect
Rialto from the ravaging effects of wildland fire the second round
of weed abatement compliance has already begun. Vacant lots
with weeds that pose a fire threat will be abated beginning in
October if the property owners have not cleared the weeds on
their own. Please help us help you and report any weeds that are
a concern by calling us at (909) 820-2501.

Fire Station 205

A fifth fire station is coming to Rialto! Fire Station 205 will serve the south end of town and will be located at 1485 S. Willow
Avenue just south of the new Walmart in Rialto Marketplace. A ground breaking will occur soon and we anticipate a fire
engine and fire ambulance being staffed out of temporary quarters on-site in first half of 2019. Response times and overall
service will improve with the new fire station as it will serve the more than 15,000 people that live in the south end of town.
