Welcome Welcome to the North Rugby E-Magazine Firstly, let me apologise for the delay in getting the magazine out. Work, organising the Big Match and Billingham’s quest for survival literally got the better of me. Time wasn’t my friend. Thank you from me for the support. In the coming months we will learn who will enter the legaues when the leagues have been worked out. The only one I know that coming in for certain is Percy Park. Another North East team who I am sure that Alnwick will be happy to have in the league. Apologies if I have missed someone. It’s easy to pick the league winners as the best team in the league, however I like to look at other clubs and how they have performed and if any improvements. I have been really impressed with Wirral and their form. They have been consistent throughout and some influential players stepping up. Another team is Scunthorpe. Struggled in parts last season but this season they have had some cracking results. Really made their home a fortress. Season 23/24 Complete.... Well what a season! 23/24 didn’t disappoint. Both leagues going down to the last game of the season. Huge congratulations to Macclesfield and Harrogate on being crowned league champions. I wish you all the best in Nat 2 North. Unfortunately we do have to say sad goodbye to four teams who have been relegated. Sandbach, Northwich, Doncaster Phoenix and Pontefract. Personally I want to say thank you to all teams who have contributed to the success of the leagues this year. The standard, the calibre has been unreal. I feel this has been the most competitive season for a number of years.
We now start building towards the the Big Match on the 22nd June. I can’t wait. Although not everyone named in the Team of the Year is available we have gone to the next player on the highest votes. Confirmation of the teams playing will be announced soon. Sponsors have played a massive part in this. Without their support this game would never happen. As always I continue to look for further sponsors to enhance the day. A personal note of thanks needs to go to Manchester Rugby Club. Tim and his team have gone above and beyond for this game. I look forward to seeing many of you at the game. I know it maybe a travel for some...including me travelling from Billingham but I know it will be worthwhile. A short edition this month as we allow for Papa Johns, County and End of Season Presentations to be done so player, coaches and other interviews to resume again. Season 23/24 Complete....
