WIAA Fun Facts
Edgewood leads in number of team championships won with 13. Madison West, which won the rst ve State titles, and La Crosse Central
are next in line with ve. Appleton West and Homestead have won four titles, and Madison Memorial and Notre Dame have won three. Osceola has produced the largest number of individual medalists with eight. Madison Memorial has had six individual champions, and both Appleton West and Racine Case have both produced ve individual champions. Homestead has quali ed a team for the State meet more than any other program with 26 appearances. Brook eld Central is next with 23, and then comes Madison Memorial with 20.

In 2008, Lindsay Danielson of Osceola became the rst golfer to win four individual championships. Her sister, Casey Danielson, became the second to accomplish the feat in 2012. Heather Suhr of Racine Case is the only other golfer to win medalist honors three consecutive years.

UNIVERSITY RIDGE
University Ridge was designed to be the home course of the men’s and women’s golf teams for the University of Wisconsin. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and was 9002 nished in 1991. The WIAA began its golf tournament program for girls in the fall of 1972. The rst tournament was held at Winagamie, near Appleton. It has been held at various locations - Fond du Lac,

Lawsonia, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Lake Arrowhead, Janesville Riverside, University Ridge in Madison, and Cherokee Country Club in Madison in 2012. The tournament returned to University Ridge in 2013 after course renovations were completed and has remained there for the
past 3 years. University Ridge derives its name from the landscape features
left by
the last retreating glacier. The course sits on the terminal moraine, where the Wisconsin Glacier stopped, forming the backbone of the ridge that separates the land into groups of rolling hills and valleys. The natural ridge dictated course construction and the designers followed the contours of the land to create a natural setting that overlooks the beautiful
City of Madison, Wisc.
