It’s time for us to start thinking about future leaders for our congregation to serve on our Board of

Monday, November 8 at 12:30pm (in-person only)
Join Rabbi Alon for a “Watch and Lunch” to tune into the ADL conference live and

how they are finding common ground and working together across movements to take
action and combat hate. Bring your own lunch.
THE CURRENT THREATS TO ISRAEL’S SECURITY:
IT’S PROBABLY NOT WHAT YOU THINK
Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00pm (in-person and livestream)
It seems like the conversation about Israel’s security challenges starts and ends with Iran
and its attempt to develop nuclear capabilities. Notwithstanding Iran’s threat, the fact is
that three out of four of the countries that share a border with Israel—Lebanon, Syria,
and Jordan—are increasingly becoming less stable. The concern is that their major
economic, political, and sectarian struggles may spill over across their borders into Israel.
If you are interested in learning more about the unique situations in these countries and
how they may affect Israel please join me for this discussion.
FROM FARMER TO SAGE: TALMUDIC WISDOM FOR
LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE
Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00pm (in-person and Zoom)
In addition to lengthy discussions about Jewish law, the Talmud contains some of
the most insightful stories in our vast Jewish lore. Please join me to learn together the
story of Eliezer ben Horkanos and his transformation from a frustrated farmer trying
to please his father into a leading sage. The beauty of the story is that it goes beyond
learning about an ancient rabbi; it makes us reflect on our own life.

by John Weisman
We hope you and your families are well and had a wonderful High Holy Days season.
November is another busy month for the Men’s Club. On November 4, we are sponsoring a BBQ Picnic, open to all
members of the congregation (see below for details). This gives us an opportunity to get together in person and not via
Zoom, at an outdoor venue. It will provide an opportunity to eat something besides days of turkey leftovers later in the
month.
Also, the Men’s Club is sponsoring a Veterans Day Musical Shabbat Service on Friday, November 12 (see page 7 for
details). We believe it will be an informative and unique musical service. We invite you all to join, in person or via
livestream. Watch for more details via the Temple’s weekly email blasts.
Why join and support the TBA Men’s Club? Here are 11 great reasons:
T = Trust M = Meetings C = Camaraderie

Our 8th–12th grade teens are invited to join us every Tuesday from 6:00pm–8:00pm for Tuesday Night for Teens!
Temple Beth Am is committed to our teens’ Jewish journey past their Religious School education experience. Tuesday
Night for Teens (TNT) is designed to help our teens grow as Jewish adults and members of the TBA community after
their B’nei Mitzvah by connecting their Judaism to their everyday lives.
Each week is designed to be interactive, fun, and educational. A typical evening begins with dinner (different cuisine
each week!). Then the rest of the night is complete with experiential education and social programming that fosters
Jewish identity development, community-building, leadership skills, and a deep connection to Jewish life. Programs are
planned by both our teens as well as the talents of our TNT staff. Check out what our current teens have to say about our
program!
“The teen nights are a really fun opportunity to hang out with friends as well as get a little more education in Judaism and
social issues. It’s more hands-on than regular religious school, and the food is really good!” — Anna, 10th Grade
“I love going to TNT because it has allowed me to make new friends and become comfortable with other people in my
community. I’m able to see friends from other schools, talk about important topics, and bond over Jewish values. It’s super
fun to be able to be in person and hang out, but also discuss serious topics and feel comfortable doing it.” — Jordan, 9th Grade
“I like TNT because it’s more fun than the traditional religious school. I get to spend time with people who I don’t see outside
of school, and I get to talk about issues in the world through a Jewish lens.” — Talia, 10th Grade
“I go to Tuesday Night for Teens because I get to spend time with friends and talk about meaningful things that Jewish teens
deal with on a daily basis. It also allows me to feel loved and welcome in the TBA community.” — Marley, 9th Grade

Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Announcements
Bar Mitzvah of Jesse Fabrikant (November 6, 2021)
With great joy, we announce that our son, Jesse Parker Fabrikant, will become a Bar Mitzvah
on November 6, 2021 at Temple Beth Am.
Jesse continues to fill us with great pride with his accomplishments and amazing light within.
He is a great athlete, excelling at tennis, basketball, and running. He is preparing to earn his
black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and he runs his own business. Jesse has a love of video editing,
computers, reading, writing stories, and creating and drawing his own comics. He also has
maintained excellent grades while finding time for his sports, Bar Mitzvah preparation, and
friends.
His passion, empathy, and kind heart are what draw people to him. His mitzvah project is a great example—he is
addressing food insecurity in our county. Jesse volunteered at a food pantry and organized the HaMakom Religious
School to make lunches for those in need.
We truly appreciate Rabbi Alon Levkovitz, Cantorial Soloist Marcy Morris, Ronit Meirom, and the wonderful teachers at
Temple Beth Am for all of their help in preparing Jesse for his Bar Mitzvah.
Carlye & David Fabrikant
Bat Mitzvah of Gracie Taylor (November 13, 2021)
With much love and joy, we announce the Bat Mitzvah of Gracie Elizabeth Taylor on
November 13, 2021 at Temple Beth Am.
Gracie is in the 7th grade at Jupiter Middle School where she is a dedicated student who works
hard to maintain straight As. Gracie’s smile, laughter, and witty sense of humor bring joy to
everyone around her. Gracie is always eager to lend a helping hand, and she spent time during
the pandemic making lunches for those in need. In her free time, Gracie enjoys spending time
at home with her family (including her pups), visiting her grandparents, and experimenting
with new dessert recipes. Her favorite place is Camp Weequahic in Pennsylvania where she
spends six internet-free weeks with her friends.
Gracie is an amazing granddaughter, daughter, sister, and friend—and we are so proud of the person she has become.
We are very grateful to the teachers and staff at Temple Beth Am, and to Rabbi Alon Levkovitz and Cantorial Soloist
Marcy Morris for all their hard work in helping Gracie prepare for this milestone.
