Nasi kerabu is a Malaysian cuisine rice dish, a type of nasi ulam, in which
bluecolored rice is eaten with dried fish or fried chicken, crackers, pickles and
other salads. The blue color of the rice comes from the petals of Clitoria
ternatea (butterfly-pea) flowers (bunga telang), which are used as a natural
food coloring in cooking it.[2] The rice can also be cooked with plain white rice
or rice cooked using turmeric. It is often eaten with solok lada and is also eaten
with fried keropok.[3]

Asam laksa is actually common in the northern Peninsular Malaysia and northern
Sumatra. Depending on its place of origin, a bowl of asam laksa usually consists
of smooth rice noodles, shredded mackerel, sliced vegetables such as cucumber,
onions, chillies, lettuce, common mint, laksa mint and pink torch ginger,
pineapple slices and a sweet prawn paste. For tourists coming to Penang Island,
asam laksa is a definite must-try dish.

Roti canai is a traditional Malaysian pan-fried flatbread made with flour, water,
eggs, and fat. The dough for roti canai is repeatedly folded, so the final product
has a layered texture, a soft interior, and a crispy outer layer. The most
common fat used in roti canai is ghee, the traditional Indian clarified butter. It
is believed that the dish originated in India when the Indian laborers who
migrated to Malaysia brought the recipe and the tradition of preparing this
crispy pastry to the foreign country. Usually, it is served plain in its traditional
round form, as an accompaniment to curries.

Rojak is a traditional dish eaten in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. It
consists of fruit and vegetables and is generally considered to be a salad dish.
The term rojak denotes mixture in the Malayan language

Apam balik are thick and fluffy pancakes that are popular in Malaysia,
Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore. They are prepared from coconut milk. They
are eaten lukewarm, garnished with crushed peanuts and sweet corn.

Curry Laksa (Curry Mee) is one of the signature dishes of the Malaysian
Chinese community. It comes in various versions from mild to spicy with
different toppings, depending on region. The common theme is the coconut
milk base curried soup with noodles.

One of the traditional foods of Malaysia, lemang is a delicacy containing
glutinous rice and coconut milk that's roasted inside a hollow bamboo stick.
Extremely popular in Malaysia and some parts of Indonesia, it is considered a
special food and is widely eaten during holidays such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and
Hari Raya Haji, when Muslims break their fasts. Numerous roadside lemang
stalls spring up during the festivities to sell these bamboo tubes in large
quantities. Aside from roadside vendors, this dish can also be found
throughout the year in numerous places.

Nasi Kandar is a popular dish eaten throughout the Malay peninsular which
originated in Penang. The dish is heavily influenced by the traditional cuisine of
India.

Nasi Kandar comes in lots of different varieties, however, the common feature
is the mixture of steamed rice with several Indian style curries, usually with a
chicken or beef curry and a vegetable curry of okra or aubergine.

Nasi lemak is a dish originating in Malay cuisine that consists of fragrant rice cooked in
coconut milk and pandan leaf. It is commonly found in Malaysia, where it is considered
the national dish. It is also the native dish in neighbouring areas with significant Malay
populations such as Singapore,Brunei, and Southern Thailand.

Ice Kacang or Ais Kacang is a malay dessert consumed in Malaysia,Indonesia
and Singapore. Traditionally a special ice machine is used to churn out the
shaved ice used in the dessert, originally hand cranked but now more often
motorized. Formerly, it was made of only shaved ice and red beans.
