SCHOOL
NOW
COMPLETE
The project involved the demolition of the
existing building before the construction of
a new school dining hall.
Works included the construction of a new up to
date commercial kitchen to cater for the
growing community school. The build also
involved a new sta kitchenette, toilets and
sta o ce. Partition doors were used to
separate the kitchen space from the dining hall
and to utilise additional room within the new
building. We also installed solar panels to the
roof and a highly insulated structure to ensure
a sustainable building. This was a highly
successful project for the team and has been

Jones Building Group has come to the aid oPifctuarednfreomwleftltoo ricghat:lJacmeos Smnellm, CarulonFleimtmyingraanddLieeoBusdgteation in Yeovil.
Background tra c noise could be heard every time the microphone was live at Radio Ninesprings, a new community radio
station for Yeovil and South Somerset with a studio at Waterloo House in Yeovil.
Jones Building Group blocked a ceiling void and tted extra plaster boards at the premises to the stop the ingress of
unwanted sound and now the studio is properly soundproofed. D Glass, part of the Jones Building Group, also donated a
window that has been installed as a viewing panel to see into the studio.
The works were planned by Chris Snell, Property Services Manager, and delivered on site by Multi-Skilled Operatives Lee
Budge and Carlo Flemming and Carpenter, James Snell who is one year into his improver programme following the
completion of his NVQ Level 2 Carpentry Apprenticeship with Jones Building Group. Thanks to their smart work, plans to
launch the radio station in August are now back on track.
Station Director, Steve Haigh, said: “Our microphones were picking up all kinds of extraneous noises with cars accelerating
from the Tesco car park and helicopters ying over the town. Now we have a studio that is properly soundproofed and we
are enormously grateful to Jones Building Group for providing this work.”
On the project, Chris Snell, Property Services Manager at Jones Building Group said: "Jones Building Group have been
involved in supporting the local community through various projects for many years. It was a pleasure to have helped
Yeovil’s own local community radio station, Radio Ninesprings, by soundproo ng their studio as part of National
Apprenticeship Week. We o er our best wishes to the radio station for their launch in July.”
Radio Ninesprings will be heard on FM across Yeovil and South Somerset on 104.5FM from July onwards - without
background tra c noise!

The project is for the partial rebuild and repoint of the
Western boundary stone wall for Mendip District Council.
The contract began in April with works including the
reconstruction of a 55 meter collapsed section of the
boundary wall and rebuilding copings. Repointing was
carried out to other degraded areas to reinstate the wall back
into good condition. All pre-existing tree saplings have been
cut back and the root structure has been dug out in the
vicinity of the wall to provide clear working access. Clippings
were disposed from site as well as removing all ivy growth
from both sides of the wall. The memorial headstones within
close proximity have been protected with temporary
plywood throughout the duration of the works to protect
them from any damage. The existing wall has been
demolished following its collapse and a 750mm deep trench
was excavated and concreted to rebuild the wall to the exact
width of the existing wall. The existing stone was cleaned of
all existing mortar debris, and rebuilt in line with the existing
design, width and height. All works are to be carried out to

Homes in Sedgemoor Partnership Day
Bridgwater Branch Manager, Sean Thompson at the Partnership Day with Homes in Sedgemoor Chief executive, Jen Barfoot
Held at the Canalside Conference Centre in Bridgwater, the Homes in Partnership Day was an event for Homes in
Sedgemoor, their partners and stakeholders to see the changes their relationships have made.
The day looked at how these relationships impact on the residents, the future plans of Homes in Sedgemoor and how, as
partners, we are working together to change what others think of social housing and the services Homes in
Sedgemoor and its partners provide.
The day also provided a backdrop to how we can work together with other partners such as Avon and Somerset Police to
tackle issues such as organised crime within the Sedgemoor area, particularly with Homes in Sedgemoor residents.
The day was very informative and gave us the chance to see how our clients’ initiatives are in uenced by the service we
provide as a contractor and we look forward to encouraging the delivery of these initiatives, promises and missions to the
Homes In Sedgemoor residents in the future and building on an already successful partnership.

“It is wonderful, I love the new works! It is a lovely place to live and the workmen were so very helpful
and so nice. I don’t have any bad words to say.”
- A Homes in Sedgemoor resident thanks the Bridgwater o ce for the refurbishment works carried out at
Dunwear House
“Having done some post inspections on the properties at Tewkesbury having kitchens installed, we
have received some great reports for James Rolls. All of the customers have praised his work ethic and
e orts and also how friendly and polite he is. His work is also of an exemplary quality, with hardly any
(if any at all) snagging needed. Seeing him on site he is also clean and tidy which also puts him in good
stead with the customers, but also makes him aware of Health and Safety issues.
Lee [Budge] has had a lot of positive comments back recently as well. His work is often, if not always, of
a high standard and customers often say that he goes above and beyond what is needed. For example,
one tenant was very happy recently with the additional shelf he quickly produced, which I agree with,
is a tidy addition to the kitchen. Also another resident praised his e orts and added that the process
was made a lot easier having tradesmen like Lee involved.
Lorentz [Green] continuously produces great work. His installs are always of a high quality and
customers always praise him when I attend after the works are completed. During site visits he always
makes sure he informs me of any changes needed and has solutions that would/could bene t the
install. I’m sure he will be a great multi skilled operative for you in the future.
- Shaun Mumford, Yarlington Planned Maintenance Supervisor, gives feedback from residents on the great
work from the Yeovil Property Services team
“The workmen were wonderful when tting my shed door. I was so happy and impressed with it and
thought the workmen were fantastic.”
- A Homes in Sedgemoor resident thanks the Bridgwater team for their new shed door
