Student Name: Yunus Al-Rasbi
Grade: MYP 5 (Grade 10)

Dear Parents,
Here is the first written report for your child for the 2019 – 2020 Academic Year. It is a record of your child’s
academic progress during Term 1 and covers all the subjects that your child has studied.
This is the first report that the school has produced using “Managebac”. ManageBac is the online learning platform
for International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools. ManageBac enables efficient curriculum planning, assessment
and reporting and enhancing communication to parents and students.
Managebac will allow you not only to review your child’s report but you will have access to every assignment that
they complete throughout the academic year.
It is a new system to Alruwad International School and we will be growing in to this very sophisticated system
during the academic year. We will be holding training workshops for parents in the beginning of 2020.
There may be new terminology used in the reports that are specific to the IB Programmes. A glossary of terms in
English and Arabic is included in the report.
Should you have any comments about the report or wish to discuss your child’s progress please use Class Dojo to
make an appointment with your child’s teacher at a mutually convenient time.
Yours sincerely,
Matthew Bristow

Reflections

Homeroom Teacher
Yunus is a compassionate and empathetic student. Yunus is giving a strong effort towards his school work. As the
work is getting harder, Yunus needs to spend more time studying, and regularly reviewing his work. He also needs
to continuously speak to the subject teacher and clarify any questions. He can’t let time pass by before doing so,
as ideas and concepts pile up. At this level, Yunus needs to take ownership over his learning make sure he is
understanding work daily. He needs to challenge himself to get 1 criteria mark higher in each strand. You can do it!

Comments:
Younus is polite and respectful to his teacher and peers, and he possesses the confidence to ask questions and
speak his mind. At the beginning of the year, Younus’ behaviour and attitude was not quite at the high standard to
which I had become accustomed during grade nine. However, I am glad to report that he has made significant
progress in this regard as the term has continued. Younus is a good listener and he possesses strong
communication skills. Throughout this first term, Younus has learned new vocabulary, engaged enthusiastically with
concepts such as war and conflict; peace and conflict resolution, and the importance of film. Additionally, he has
written essays and delivered a group presentation. In particular, it was wonderful to watch and help Younus learn
about Mahatma Gandhi, and he spoke very calmly and confidently in front of the class, and showed that he was
knowledgeable. Furthermore, Younus demonstrated excellent teamwork and decision-making skills when he
participated in the creation of an outstanding silent film. Younus can be proud of his efforts this term. I hope he
continues to work hard and he continues to present the very best aspects of his personality during Language

Comments:
In the first trimester, Yunus has demonstrated a solid understanding of the key and related concepts within Grade
10 Individuals and Societies (I&S). Through his test and assignments during the first and second units, he has
showcased a developing ability to consistently communicate and think critically at grade level. As he prepares for
the second trimester, Yunus is strongly encouraged to continue making these positive strides while taking more
risks within the classroom environment. This can be accomplished by, for example, contributing more regularly to
classwide discussions and debates.
