The Everglades National Park –
Florida, USA
The Everglades National Park protects the largest
subtropical wilderness in the U.S., 1.5 million acres
(607,028 hectares), with the biggest mangrove ecosystem
in the western hemisphere. Interestingly, it only has
two seasons: wet and dry. Tricolored Herons are a
characteristic bird of the area, as they use mangrove
areas and saltmarshes during the breeding season, and
24 forage for small fish in brackish wetlands.
