While waking up at 8am on the day
of the farewell was not something
students were particularly looking
forward to, the farewell parade
turned out to be an unforgettable
addition to our sendoff as the batch
of 22’. With a warm welcome in the
form of white and blue streamers
flying in the air, and the rhythmic
beat of the dhol, the day of our last
event with LGS started off perfectly.
Soon, morning light turned into
darker hues of blue as the farewell
dawned upon us. Gathering at F9
park for batch photos beforehand
cultivated a particularly festive
mood as everyone got pictures in
their perfectly tailored suits and
saaris. The event itself was
encapsulated in bittersweet feelings
as we said goodbye to the building
that had housed incredible
memories and ignited lifelong
friendships. While this day has long
since passed, it will live forever
more in our memories.

Life
From playing games on
our phones, taking
selfies in a mirror,
eating fries on the roof,
or crying about our
next exam, we all
shared timeless
memories on campus.
Its the place we spent
so much of our time
collectively, be it
basketball for 4 hours
straight or ordering
pizza and having
parties at the benches.
A great time no matter
what.

A Stranger’s Funeral
No idea who you are At a place where no one looks,
The only detail – demise unspeakable In the middle of their hearts
Certain speak says you were kind
While nodding heads say they were lies There is a place where the streams of everything ever
Come together and form
Empty of tears with swollen eyes A pool, that sits away from everything else.
The ones that loved you hide well in the crowd It is deep and shallow
Shrouded by incompassionate husks
That move around for a better view With an Emerald hug, and a Tangerine kiss
Of tender tragedy The water sticks to your skin.
To recite over dinner
Tell someone – Once there was a girl killed There’s a feeling there, one that comes when hearts combine
O’ horror indeed! It is known, felt, seen, and heard
Name of her’s was what again? It is all of it.
Think of the parents, the parents And there is nothing else.
Unnatural it is.
I want to swim in it… in it all
The shallow waters. I want to kick my feet
Abhorrent. That these bodies could stand around her’s And wade in it
Hands held together, heads aimed down, as if such a care
And Float
was given by them for this young girl.
And Feel it all. All the feelings to feel
I want to stay there
Another tragedy for them to snack on Submerged
Make sure you stock up on all your thrills.
In a bubble
~ Ahmed Aslam
Abominable. This poor girl’s murder – entertainment for you & yours
Although, its true, some wept honest tears
I know ambivalence sat there
Because I was there
~ Ahmed Aslam
The flesh without it’s colour, its blood suckling ripeness
A song with no melody, a bird without flight
words hold no meaning – thought no sense
Bickering turns to quiet, passion lays to rest
I’m sick of all this silence, what I’d give to hear the sky
Gleam, and shine down a truth upon me
That I can see past these dark goggles.
And with a calling, resume my flight through the skies and
Live a world without time
~ Ahmed Aslam
