35 Collaborations International Project-Based Learning Program (iPBL) 2023 SIIT welcomed 2 faculty members, 2 teaching assistants, and 10 students from the Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT) from Japan, to have the 9th International Project-Based Learning (iPBL) Program Workshop together. The OIT-SIIT iPBL Workshop was held at SIIT, Rangsit campus, from August 28th to September 1st, 2023. Supervised by both OIT faculty members (Dr. Yoshiyuki Kamakura and Dr. Takao Jinno) and SIIT faculty member (Dr. Toshiaki Kondo), 15 SIIT students closely worked with 10 OIT students in 5 groups and successfully created entertaining games and useful software by using image processing and pattern recognition techniques. During this event, our OIT guests explored both delicious Thai cuisines and impressive cultural trips, such as to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. New OIT students will visit SIIT again next year. Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) have collaborated in theInternationalProject-BasedLearning Program (iPBL) 2023. The iPBL Program was hosted by the faculty of Robotics and Design, OIT, at the Umeda campus during July 11 - 15, 2023, and then hosted by SIIT at the Rangsit campus during July 17 – 21, 2023. It was one of many international activities available at SIIT. Our 10 SIIT students from the school of MSME and ICT have visited OIT in Osaka, Japan, to solve real-world issues by applying robotics design, hardware implementation, software development, and artificial intelligence. This cooperation between the students from SIIT, OIT and UMS led them to successfully implement applications for self-medication recognition, culture-difference education, and to solve problems related to trash disposal and traffic congestion. In this workshop, the SIIT students spent time in Osaka for 7 days and 6 nights. They created memorable moments including friendship, cultural exploration, Osaka’s tasty food, and trips to famous attractions (Osaka Castle Park, Dotonburi, the Umeda area, the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, etc.). The iPBL Program still continues to offer fruitful benefits to our students. OIT and UMS students, we will see you again next year!
