The Current Cloud Market in India

IBM India Cloud Forum 2017

The Indian Cloud Market is booming. Cloud has and is continuing to rapidly alter the IT landscape in India, with

companies allocating huge shares of their revenues for upcoming cloud innovations. Between the ones who are

providing it there is a Cloud War brewing in India and the key in who will win and who will lose, is the domain
services that the cloud platform will deliver, with a key being AI.

The two heavyweights in the Indian Cloud market now are Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

AWS is focusing on individual empowerment. This audience-first strategy shapes the journey they create around

their audience’s interests, behaviours and needs opposed to the products and solutions. By recognising their clients
are also consumers, AWS provides opportunities for audiences to engage with technology outside of a
traditional setting, providing experiences that allow their audience to explore their technology in their everyday lives.

Microsoft are also creating more unique and immersive experiences that are tailored to specific audiences.

Business leaders have business solution focus areas, Technical leaders have deep-dive and hands-on sessions and
consumers have imaginative and engaging experiences.

The Cognitive Fashion Show!

At ICF 17, the famous Indian designer duo – Shane and Phalguni

Peacock partnered with IBM Watson to create the “Future of
Bollywood Fashion” collection. Watson analyzed about 6,00,000

historical fashion images from London, New York, Milan and Paris

Fashion Weeks held over the past decade. It then analyzed a large
set of images of Bollywood stars from the '70s, '80s, '90s and 2000s

to provide insights that created the collection.

The highlight was the collection was modelled by Pooja Hegde,

Key Learnings

IBM India Cloud Forum 2017

1. The most popular session of the event was the keynote by Karan Bajwa, MD of IBM India. The hall was packed to

maximum capacity. The inclusion of partner case studies in conversation form also made the session very engaging
and relevant to the audience. Conversations with partners like Asian Paints and online retailer ABOF also re-inforced

the message that IBM Cloud is not just for traditional business, but for all.

2. With the exception of the main keynote, the audience was more involved in the Cloud Studio and partner demos. Post
the first tea break at 11 am, most delegates were interested in experiencing the demo areas than attending the

sessions or tracks, so much that we had to gently request people to attend the sessions.

3. The use of a web interface to field Q&A sessions as well as collecting feedback digitally greatly increased the
efficiency of both processes. The Slido QA app helped us curate questions in real-time and display the relevant ones

on the speaker’s screen – there was no need to hand out mikes or encourage people to ask questions. Similarly we
had 8 hostesses requesting feedback from attendees on hand-held iPads and we observed that attendees were more
inclined to provide feedback – especially since the whole process of feedback just took about 45 seconds each.

Outcomes

IBM India Cloud Forum 2017

1. Based on the feedback and verbal conversations with attendees and clients, India Cloud Forum was a
resounding success. The average rating for the event was 4.28 which is between very Good and

Excellent. The event was also viewed by about 3776 people from 15 countries on Ustream. The event

trended well on social media, with #ibmicf2017 and #notjustanyothercloud being in the top trends in

India.

2. The event re-enforced the key message that IBM is ‘Enterprise-grade, Data First, Cognitive at the core and that
IBM will partner with the best of the ecosystem to help clients win in the cognitive era’

3. Feedback from clients:

“I was hugely impressed with the scale and fantastic execution while keeping the quality of participation, audience
engagement and content very high!”

Vikas Arora, Country Manager, Cloud Business – IBM ISA
