Describe how helping at home develops your character

Due to covid-19, all schools were closing. So, everyone must stay at home. When we are
staying at home, we will not know what to do. Over time, staying at home becomes very boring.
This will cause many people to waste their time with useless things. For example, hanging out
with friends every day, surfing the internet all the time by looking at useless things, always
sleeping and so on. Instead of doing useless things, everyone can take a chance of staying at
home by helping at home then can develop our character. Character refers to a set of morals and
beliefs that define how we treat or act with others and ourselves. It is the only factor that
determines our response or reaction to certain event or situation. It defines a person’s behavior,
thinking styles, controlling feelings. It is base on the environment around us, mental abilities, moral
principles and other similar factors. It is the most precious thing a person possesses, as evidenced
by the limits he has never cross. For me, other than online classes and homework, I have nothing
else to do. So, I must help my parents at home. By helping parents at home, it will be able to
develop my character. In this essay, there are three things that will be discuss how helping at
home develop your character being understanding and independent person, mature and
responsible person.

The first thing that will be discuss is understanding and
independent character. According to Sean Landrock (2020)
one advantage of being understanding is that it presents you
up to many new perspectives. With these perspectives, if you
choose the right ones, life can be much more beautiful than
you can imagine. In addition, the more perspectives you are
shown to with an open mind, the more understanding you will
be to any perspectives even ones you don't certainly agree
with. This, can makes you a more understanding person.
People always like someone who understands. Understanding has shown me to some of the most
beautiful people. Even if they don't see the beauty within themselves. I have made some long-
lasting meaningful relationships with the people I now call friends some even family. By helping
at home, we learn to understanding and be independent person. We will be able to understand
each other and do our own work without expecting others. For example, getting up early in the
morning to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. While cooking, our mom would teach us how to add
salt in cuisine. This will make us to be an understanding person as we can understand the tastes

of my family member’s cuisine. Then our mom would tell us to adding our own salt and tasting
our own food. This would make us being independent person. In addition, we also more skill in
cooking.

Maturity can be develop from helping at home. If we are mature, we will not cause any
problem. Helping others on our own and appreciate them is a mature attitude. By helping at home,
we are learning to be a mature person. For example, washing, hanging and folding all our family
member’s clothes every day. There are some parents who teach their children to wash, hang and
fold their own clothes. So, this will make the kids feel that there is no responsibility to help others.
They will be angry or dissatisfied if others ask for their help. All parents must teach their children
to help each other. For another example, is watering flowers. If one of our siblings is unable to do
so, we will be responsible for helping them. In addition, we can teach our siblings to watering the
flowers. So, it will add more love and be able to strengthen the relationship with the siblings. It
can also be keep away from selfishness and will be more mature in thinking
and understanding. According to Mohammad Shahemy Azmi (2021)
motivation expert, Datuk Prof. Dr. Muhaya Mohamad in one of his
partnerships has listed the signs that a person has reached a level of
maturity in life. First is stops judging and punishing others but focuses on
changing ourself. Another sign is to be able to accept others as they are
and understand the meaning of differences of opinion. This shows that a
person’s self-maturity is not at all measured by his age. A person’s
increasing age is not a sign he or she is truly mature and acting without
following emotions. If a person wrongly finds their character, then it will
make their character bad. So, by helping at home, it can find and develop your good character.

Responsible is also can be develop from helping at home.
Responsibility is the attitude and behavior to bear all the consequences
that arise and an act or action taken by an individual or a group of people
in the organization. Responsibility also means carrying or bearing a
burden that becomes an obligation. By helping at home, we learned to
be a responsible person. If we are responsible person, we will do things
on our own. For example, sweeping the house every day. Then, if we
see trash on the floor, we must throw it away. In addition, washing the dishes every day after
eating. In our house, do not let dirty dishes piled up and also wash our parent’s dishes. This will
make us to be a responsible and hardworking person. Finally, when we are responsible for the

family, the dignity of our family will be preserve. In addition, family members will trust each other.
Next the family will be happy and respect by others.

In conclusion, to develop your character, you need to notice what you are struggling with.
You have to find resources that can help you to learn or develop your character. I am happy to
have spent my free time while staying at home by helping my parents. Helping at home has
developed my character a lot. I have become more independent, disciplined, mature, not selfish
person, understanding, hardworking and responsible person. Finally, build your character for a
brighter future.
