OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME
SATURDAY 31 August 2019 – 2.30PM
VIEW FROM THE CHAIR
I would like to welcome Leigh Miners Rangers to The Lion’s
Den today for this league match today and I hope you had an
uneventful journey over the Pennines!
Last weekend most NCL teams had the weekend off Wests
included so we must be refreshed after the break! Our last
was against Rochdale Mayfield who always give us a tough
time but after our eventful journey when we only managed to
arrive 15 minutes before kick off because of an accident on the
M62 we managed to secure the points with a last minute drop
goal from Scott Spaven – the score line was 15 – 14!
We are still on with the fund raising for the players going on
tour but it is a hard slog if any of you have any ideas of what
we can do to raise this large amount please let Fionna know!
If we win today and our final match next week at Siddal we will
win the league but this a long way off but I am keeping my
fingers crossed!
See you in the bar after the match!

MARK’S MUSINGS
We have had a week off from training before the Challenge Cup so
hopefully we will be fit and ready to play! We could win the league if
we win our last two matches!
With many players back from injury and holidays we should have a
near full squad to pick from so we should be at full strength today!
Not only am I watching open age rugby I sometimes manage to watch
the Bobcats (U7s) and watching these youngsters gives us hope for the
future of the game!
May the best team win - Hewbo
VIEW FROM PITCHSIDE
The ground staff are working hard with the grounds at the moment
and they are looking great! They have been putting up the
advertising boards and this has been keeping them busy – I wonder
what is next on the agenda for them?
Next weekend all the youth teams return to playing regular fixtures
so hopefully we will be much busier!
Hull Film is making a documentary about us with the hope of
encouraging more sponsorship we have the local MP on side Emma
Hardy and also the local police are supporting us – so hopefully we
will see our fortunes off the field improve!
