Page 4 | QCCG 2023 Top 4 things to do in Queens! 1. Beaches, Beaches, Beaches Whether you like splashing around in the waves, poking around the rocks and tide pools, building an epic sandcastle, bird watching (you might even spot an endangered Piping plover), surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, or soaking up the sun… there’s something for everyone at the beach. So grab a blanket, A visit to Queens Coast is your opportunity to take a long deep breath; whether the crisp salt-laden sea breezes blowing away the cobwebs of winter cabinfever, or the heady pine-scented warm zephyrs of summer. From pristine white sand beaches, through richly diverse Acadian forest, along long-paddled rivers and across our patchwork of glimmering lakes. In our 2023 guide to Queens Coast, you will find interesting things to see and do, for everyone. We invite you to take a breath and "seek nature's rewards".

Lighthouses The Peggy’s Cove lighthouse may be one of the most iconic images of Nova Scotia, but we have SIX of “Peggy’s Sisters” dotted along Queens Coast! Follow the Lighthouse Route signage to visit some of these remarkable structures. Some are more easily visited than others, including Fort Point Lighthouse Park in Liverpool, where you can climb up inside and toot the hand-cranked foghorn! See page 36 for more details. 3. Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site is a gentle wilderness of rolling wooded hills and glistening lakes and rivers. It is also packed with exciting things to do and see. Kejimkujik is a Dark Sky Preserve and you will not believe the unfettered brilliance of the night sky views! Learn about the living culture of the Mi’kmaq who have millennia of history in this place, and understand its significance as a National Historic Site. See page 20 for a full write-up on Kejimkujik. 4. Parks, T rails, Paddles We encourage you to explore off the beaten path. Seek nature’s rewards in our beautiful parks, trails, lakes and rivers. They are perfect for family fun days, thrilling adventures or quiet solitude. If you’ve never walked through Pine Grove Park in early summer, you’re missing out! You’ll be charmed by the 54-acre park and its display of flowering rhorhododendrons, azaleas, and magnolias planted in stands of century old pines among the Lady’s slipper orchids. Along with scenic views of the Mersey River, picnic areas, and well-maintained trails, kids will delight in discovering painted rocks hidden amongst the trees. See page 15 for more details. Become part of an ancient heritage and paddle our rivers and pristine lakes. Whether it’s an hour of kayak instruction or a week-long guided backcountry canoe trip following the paddle strokes of the Tent Dwellers, Queens Coast is a paddler’s paradise. See page 14 for more details.

Get your Privateer on, step aboard the scale deck replica of our famous Privateer ship, the “Liverpool Packet”.   Queens County is steeped in history, beginning with the Mi’kmaq people. The French influence began in 1604, followed by the New England Planters in 1759. Over the years, the people of Queens County have chronicled the area’s rich history and its inherent link to the sea and forest. Queens County Museum houses many of these stories. The museum also features exhibits on early medicine, our marine history, wartime memorabilia, and other stories from along the shore. The Museum gift shop offers a variety of items including giftware, souvenirs, stones & crystals, publications unique to Queens County, jewelry, and much more. Admission by donation. THOMAS H. RADDALL RESEARCH CENTRE The Thomas H. Raddall Research Centre, located inside the Queens County Museum, is a haven for the genealogist.
