ประวัติความเป็ นมาของ
ตลาดมือสองในปัตตานี

ปัตตานีเป็ นจังหวัดที่มีตลาดเสื้อผ้ามือสองที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในภาคใต้ มีประวัติความเป็ นมาอันยาวนาน
ก่อนอื่นต้องขอเล่าที่มากันก่อน ช่วง พ.ศ. 2524 พ่อค้าชาวบางปูซึ่ งเดิมเป็ นหมู่บ้านชาวประมงในจังหวัด
ปัตตานี ได้บุกเบิกการนำเสื้อกระสอบจากประเทศสิงคโปร์และมาเลเซียมาขายที่ตลาดนัดสนามหลวงใน
กรุงเทพฯ (เมื่อก่อนสนามหลวงใช้เป็ นที่จัดตลาดนัด) ยุคนั้ นเสื้อผ้าอัดมาเป็ นก้อนสี่เหลี่ยมขนาด 30
กิโลกรัม เสื้อผ้าด้านในเรียกว่า บาญู ฆูนี (Baju Guni) แปลว่า เสื้อกระสอบ ในช่วงนั้ นพ่อค้าเสื้อกระสอบ
จากสามจังหวัดชายแดนใต้ทำรายได้อย่างมหาศาล เพราะผูกขาดการนำเข้า สัปดาห์ละหลายหมื่นบาท
คนในตำบลบางปูจึงหันมาทำธุรกิจที่เกี่ยวกับเสื้อกระสอบ เช่น รับจ้างซักรีด คัดแยกเกรดเสื้อ กันอย่าง
คึกคัก

ในปี พ.ศ. 2525 ตลาดนัดสนามหลวงย้ายไปอยู่ที่ตลาดนัดพหลโยธิน (เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็ นตลาดนัดจตุจักร
ในเวลาต่อมา) แต่กลุ่มพ่อค้าเสื้อกระสอบรายใหญ่จากสามจังหวัดไม่ย้ายตามไป แยกย้ายไปทำอาชีพอื่น
และนั่นอาจจะเป็ นเหตุผลให้เกิดตลาดของมือสองขนาดใหญ่ในจังหวัดปัตตานีแทน

The History of Second-hand
Markets in Pattani

Pattani has the biggest second-hand markets in the south of Thailand, and it has
such a long history. In 1981, traders from Bang Pu, once a fishing village in Pattani, began
to import clothes in a sack from Singapore and Malaysia, to sell at Sanam Luang Market in
Bangkok, (Sanam Luang was a market then). The clothes were compressed into a square
shaped sack weighing around 30 kg. This is called “Bajoo Guni” which means clothes in a
sack. During that time, second-hand clothes sellers from the deep south of Thailand made
huge profits because of a monopoly of the imports which generated revenue of more than
ten thousand baht per week. Hence, villagers in Bang Pu started doing business related to
sackcloths, such as laundry service and clothes grading service.

In 1982, Sanam Luang Market was closed, and the market was moved to the
Phaholyothin area and was called Phaholyothin Market, after that the market was moved
again to Jatujak district and was called Jatujak Market. However, the big sackcloth traders
from the deep south did not move to the new place. They separated and turned to
pursue other careers, and that may be the reason for the emergence of a large second-
hand market in Pattani.

เฉพาะเสื้อผ้า กระเป๋ า ข้าวของเครื่องใช้ที่ผ่านการใช้งานจนนับมือไม่ถ้วนโดยเฉพาะแบรนด์ดังจากทั่วทุกมุมโลก ถูก

นำมาวางแบกะดินหรือแขวนโชว์ให้ลูกค้าซึ่ งเดินกันขวักไขว่พลุกพล่าน 2 ฟากฝั่งถนนกว่า 2 กิโลเมตร ตั้งแต่ช่วงเช้า

จนถึงบ่ายของวันอาทิตย์ ผู้คนต่างเดินจับจ่ายเลือกหา“ของดีราคาถูก” ถ้ามาตั้งแต่เช้าทันผ้าเพิ่งแกะกระสอบก็จะมีสิทธ์

ได้เลือกก่อน ซื้ อก่อน ได้ของดีก่อน ซึ่ งบางครั้งก็ถือเป็ นการชี้วัดความสามารถของผู้ซื้ อ ดังคำกล่าวที่ว่า“ตาดีได้...ตาร้าย

เสีย” หรือบ้างก็บอกว่า “ของแท้มือสอง...ของเทียมมือหนึ่ ง” คำพูดเหล่านี้ เองที่เป็ นแรงจูงใจให้กับผู้คนในพื้นที่หันมา

Everyone in Pattani knows the second-hand market that stretches for
kilometers along Rusamilae Road in front of Prince of Songkla
University, Pattani Campus. The shoppers call it “Ru Market”. There are
many types of products sold here such as clothes, bags, second-hand
appliances, all of which have been passed down for countless hands.
Products from famous brands from all over the world are placed on the
footpaths along the roadsides or hung on a stand showing themselves
to the customers who are bustling on both sides of the road. On
Sundays from morning until afternoon, people will go shopping for
“cheap and good stuff”. If you come early when the merchants just
open a cloth sack, you will have the right to choose first, buy first,
and get good things first, which is sometimes considered as a
measurement of the talent of the buyers. As some say, “Win or lose
depends on luck” or the other saying, “genuine second-hands, imitating
first-hands.” These are the phrases that motivate people to buy
second-hand goods to use in their daily lives.

The market is divided into 2 zones

โซนที่หนึ่ งคือของเก่าบนถนนเจริญประดิษฐ์ โซนที่สองคือเสื้ อผ้ามือสอง
(หน้ามหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์หรือ “ม.อ.”) และของกินบนถนนบ้านรูสะมิแล

The first one is a zone for antiques on Charoen Pradit The second zone is for second-hand clothes and food on the
Road in front of Prince of Songkla University Pattani street of Ban Rusamilae.
Campus or “PSU Pattani.”

ถึงแม้ถนนทั้งสองสายนี้มาบรรจบกันที่วงเวียนหน้า
ประตูทางเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์แต่ตำแหน่ง
แผงลอยทั้งสองโซนกลับไม่เชื่อมเป็ นตลาดนัดเดียวกัน
โดยแผงเสื้อผ้ามือสองจะอยู่เลยวงเวียนขึ้นไปบนถนน
บ้านรูสะมิแลอีกสองร้อยเมตร ขณะที่แผงลอยของเก่า
เริ่มที่หน้าวงเวียนบนฟุตบาทริมถนนเจริญประดิษฐ์
เลียบกำแพงรั้วมหาวิทยาลัย

Even though these two roads converge at the
roundabout in front of the main entrance of Prince of
Songkla University, the location of the stalls in both
zones are not connected. The second-hand cloth stalls
are located two hundred meters away from the
roundabout up along Ban Rusamilae Road. The zone for
antique stalls, on the other hand, starts in front of the
roundabout from the footpath on Charoen Pradit Road
up along the wall of the university.

จุดเด่นอีกประการคือ ตลาดรูฯเป็ นตลาดที่ยาวที่สุดในภาคใต้ สินค้าหลากหลายและราคาถูก

The Uniqueness of the Market

One uniqueness of this market is that most shoppers come with motorcycles. When they find products that
they like, which are displayed along the road, they will just stop and park their motorbike on the roadside in
front of the stall. Then, they just walk under a large umbrella or a tent that has been turned into a stall so
that they can search for and buy whatever they want. So, every Sunday morning, we will always see a lot of
motorcycles parking on both sides of the road.
Another highlight of “Ru Market” is that it is the longest second-hand market in the South, and it offers a
wide range of products at very low prices.

“Rusamilae Market” is not just the
hope of shoppers looking for good
quality items, but also the hope of
those small “sellers” in Pattani
Province. Every product that can be
sold means an income to feed their
families. So, the happy looks with
