Mrs. Mississippi 2017

Being Mrs. Mississippi 2017 has been an amazing
experience. As I look back over the last year, it has been
a time filled with opportunities that have allowed me to
grow as a person, make lifelong connections, and be in-
volved with causes that are close to my heart. I hope that
in some way I have empowered others to invest in them-
selves and go after their dreams. I am so grateful for the
support and love of family, friends, and colleagues who
have been with me along this journey over the last year.

I give all praise and glory for my Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ for this incredible opportunity. I am remind-
ed of my favorite verse: “For I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Thank you to the Mrs. Mississippi Pageant Organi-
zation for giving me the opportunity to connect with
young adults and express the importance of achieving
goals and persevering regardless of circumstances. This
experience has meant the world to me. Although my
time as the reigning Mrs. Mississippi has come to an end, I will always keep the memories close
to my heart and continue to encourage people to set, work towards, and achieve their goals.

Many thanks to my family for your support. You have prayed, encouraged, and stepped in
during my busy schedule to fill in whenever necessary. I want to thank my husband George for
being my biggest supporter. I could not have gone on this amazing journey without you. You
are my Mr. Mississippi. I cannot forget about my boys, Matthew and Adam. Boys, I love you so
much. It is an honor to be your mom. I hope that during my reign, I have made you proud. To
my mom, who is my prayer warrior and travel buddy, and my dad who is my cheerleader, thank
you for all the time you have invested in supporting me during this last year.

I would also like to thank my directors Delayna Bridges and Caitlin Jadofsky for your ad-
vice in helping me navigate the pageant world, Cheryl Harper and Jamila Barnes for “putting me
together,” and for the previous Mrs. Mississippis who have unselfishly shared your time and ad-
vice so that I could represent our state. I’d like to thank BankPlus for being flexible with my
schedule and supporting the dream. Last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to friends and
countless sponsors for your support. I leave you with this quote by Jimmy Dean: “I can’t change
the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
