THEIR STORIES
BECOME LEGEND

Players and DMs can influence the future of
the Forgotten Realins through game play!
Continuing with this D&I) Encounters sason,
third in the year-long, multi-part Sundering
storyline, the decisions ofeach group during the
adventure are tallied up to determine Forgotten
Realms events. Here’s how it works.

•:• At the conclusion ofthe season, -
players and DMs can report what
KIT CONTENT happened in their groups by heading to
DESCRIPTION Dungeonsandl)ragons.com/sundering.
Participants can make their voices heard by
signing up for the Sundering Adventurer’s
Chronicle app tinder the Media tab.

•:• Stores and organizers should report weekly play
normally. They do not need to report in-game
actions. Players and l)Ms report results at the
end ofthe season.

Each kit contains enough material to support two tables. Each table can consist ofone Dungeon Master
(I)M) and four to six players. Your kit contams the following materials:

•:• A poster advertising the program with Sundering art on the reverse. Hang this in the store to promote
the current D&l) Encounters season. When you’re done, turn it over to dress the store with a cool piece
of Sundering art.

•:. Two packs ofnon-player character cards depicting important NPCs encountered in the adventure. Give
one pack to each T)ungeon Master.

•:• 20 player maps depicting the Daggerford region from the adventure. At the first session, give each l)M
enough maps for the players at his or her table.

•:• 20 custom twenty-sided dice. These dice are exclusive to this season and have a special season symbol.
Give them to players and DMs at the conclusion ofthe season.

•:• Two copies ofthe Scourge ofthe Sword CToMast FAQfor DMs.

•:• This instruction sheet. Please note that the adventure and a subset ofthe I)&D® Next playtest rules
are available dt1higroituagllhy dndclassics.com.

LAUNCH WEEKEND

You may have scheduled a D&D tEncmounters Launch Weekend on
February 1 5 - 16. During that weekend, follow these steps to get your
playersready to play each Wednesday. Please note that there is no separate kit
for Lauich Weekend; everything is included in this kit.

Print out or photocopy some blank character sheets and pregenerated characters
(both are found in the playtest packet at dndclassics.com).
Divide players into groups, and assign each a Dungeon Master.
•:• Have the Dungeon Master and other experienced players help everyone create
new 2nd-level characters. A player that doesn’t want to create a character can
choose a pregenerated character. Character creation should take about an hour.
•:• DMs should run their groups through the first part ofthe adventure, getting
the characters into I)aggerford and setting the stage for the rest of the
adventure. This should take about 2 hours.
As part ofthe adventure’s events, or at the end ofthis session, give each
player one ofthe player maps showing the Daggerford region.

RUNNING YOUR WEEKLY SESSIONS

Follow these steps to ensure a great play experience!

•:• Set aside Wednesdays and lock in a start time for your D&D
Encounters sessions. Maintain the same time throughout the season; so players
and DMs know when to come into the store. Each session should run about 2 hours.

•:. Print out orphotocopy blank character sheets. These can be found in the D&D Next playtest packet
or in the “Rules and Documents” section ofthe WPN site.

•:• Ifplayers don’t want to make their own characters, you can hand them pregenerated
characters. These can also be found in the D&D Next playtest packet.

•:• Let the DMs know they’ll need to obtain the adventure prior to the season’s start. Your DMs
need to read and prepare the adventure, so advise them to visit dndclassics.com to get Scour8e ofthe Sword
Coasf prior to the start ofthe season.

•:• New players mayjoin mid-season. Ifyou have new players starting in the middle ofthe season, have them
create or select a pre-generated character and join the adventure. The I)M can give the new players an
update on what’s happened.
+ DON’T FORGET TO REPORT AFTER EACH SESSION! Collect the tracking sheets at the end of
each session, or keep this information on Wizards Event Reporter. Ifyou have questions on reporting
your play, please contact Wizards ofthe Coast for assistance. Do not let your reporting lapse!
