Screening Amyloidotic Polyneuropathy (FAP) or
Program* Familial Amyloidotic Cardiomyopathy (FAC)
FAP and FAC are an inherited genetic disorders caused by deposition of liver-
derived TTR amyloid in various tissues and organs. These progressive conditions
remain significantly underdiagnosed and have limited treatment options.
Diagnosing FAP and FAC can be a challenge.
Patients often exhibit symptoms commonly associated with idiopathic
polyneuropathies and/or heart failure. To promote accurate diagnosis and
appropriate treatment, Alnylam Assist offers free third-party screening for
family members of patients diagnosed with FAP or FAC as well as for patients
experiencing clinical signs and symptoms of these conditions.

“Alnylam Assist represents an important step forward in
providing patients and caregivers a tool for identifying a
disease that is often underdiagnosed.
For our patients who may not have the means to afford genetic
screening, this free, third-party program will remove a major barrier
to early diagnosis of this dreadful disease.
For caregivers, this program represents progress towards
implementing a management strategy potentially earlier in the disease
process for our patients who suffer from this genetic disorder.”
