ABSTRACT
VIRTUAL TEAM PERFORMANCE: DO MANAGER’S TRUSTWORTHINESS MATTERS?
See Thoe Chee Kong, Taylor’s University, Subang, Malaysia (Email: [email protected])
Dr. Manimekalai Jambulingam, Taylor’s University, Subang, Malaysia (Email: [email protected])
Abstract - The last few years, organization are moving towards more efficient way to reach to the market quickly and at the lowest cost. One of the key
components is the creation of virtual teams. The recent growth of virtual teams in organizations have created new challenges in management on how to
manage virtual teams and ensure that virtual team perform. Theoretically, the underlining theory of trust is the Social Exchange Theory. A theory that based
on dyadic relationship that are formed though a cost-benefit assessment. Both parties will come into a relationship when both parties find benefits, tangible
or non-tangible, in the relationship. If the employee finds that the manager is trustworthy, the employee will respond by giving his/her best to the team.
Therefore, one of the key components in managing virtual team is the manager. The manager skills are important to manage virtual team and ensure that the
virtual team performs. At the same time, manager of face-to-face teams may or may not be suitable to lead virtual teams. New trainings and skill enhancement
may be needed. Literatures have pointed out that one of the important aspects to drive team performance is trust, the manager need to be able to build trust
between them and their staff or employee. Building trust in a virtual team is different from face-to-face team and therefore managers of virtual team require
new skill set. The perception of trustworthiness consist of different dimensions and this research will investigate the dimensions of perceived trustworthiness
of the manager. The research contributes to the virtual team management on what type of skills are required for a manager to manage virtual team to ensure
the team performs. The research data are analyzed using quantitative data methodology and PLS-SEM analysis.

A CROWDFUNDING INTENTION PARTICIPATION MODEL FOR MSMES IN MALAYSIA THROUGH THE FACEBOOK PLATFORM
Ahmad Amru bin Mohamad Zaid, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor, Malaysia ([email protected])
Ab Razak Che Hussin, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor, Malaysia ([email protected])
Abstract - The lack of finance for entrepreneurial ventures such as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) demands the use of crowdfunding, as
government and non-government organizations' support is insufficient. Access to financial assistance is generally more difficult for small businesses than it is
for big businesses. The government has implemented a crowdfunding framework with the purpose of assisting MSMEs in raising early-stage finance. Yet, in
Malaysia, public acceptability of crowdfunding is still low. Even though crowdfunding offers an array of ways, fundraising initiatives have a poor success rate.
The main research question of this study is how the Facebook platform can be optimized for Crowdfunding to increase the participation of potential investors
to validate the ideas and invest in them. There are three objectives set for this study: to identify the relevance factors that drive Facebook users to participate
in crowdfunding; to identify the relationship of intention participation factors with crowdfunding in the Facebook platform; and to develop a Crowdfunding
Intention Participation Model for MSMEs in Malaysia through the Facebook platform. Using exploratory quantitative methodology, an e-survey was conducted
for Facebook users. The sample size of the survey is 387, with a margin of error of five percent. The outcome of this study will contribute to the community,
social media users as the funders and MSMEs firms as the fundraisers, toward economic growth, local authority, to the body of knowledge, and to the theoretical
and practical contributions.

Abstract - Digital transformation is presently the most popular research areas in information systems. It is an ongoing transition in which organisations adapt their business
processes, products, and procedures to gain from digital technology. There is a need for technology-enabled transformation for the organisations to stay ahead in the
disruptive environment. Public sectors are under pressure to adapt quickly in order to sustain their credibility as a result of this ongoing change. Public sector employee
perspective is crucial for grassroots level of transformation. The study will investigate individual factors and address the impact of work outcome in Malaysian Public sector
employees. This research uses motivation theory as the main theory and proposes integration of self-determination theory (SDT) and learning organisational concept from
Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge as the research framework. Data will be collected through survey distributed to three level public sector organisations, Federal, State and Local
Councils in the state of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. This study contributes to the body of knowledge for public sector digital transformation
at an individual level performance.

A SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT MODEL FOR POLITICAL INFLUENCE.
Norman Sapar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, Malaysia ([email protected])
Ab Razak Che Hussin, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, Malaysia ([email protected])
Abstract - The phenomenon of the social media world demands a specific and systematic approach to managing and leveraging it. Social media is now
widely used and growing dramatically. The benefits are of course wide and very fast access to all over the world and arguably without cost burden.
Politics and social media complement each other, politicians who don't use social media consistently are bound to drop out or lose influence and
popularity. Political popularity on social media is directly linked to influence. Young people are a group that is vulnerable to these latest technological
trends and makes up a large percentage of the total electorate. In addition, the expenses and focus given to social media are a must. The evolution of its
development is moving fast as each race pursues popularity to gain influence. Good and bad something is no longer an advantage otherwise popularity
can dictate everything. This study uses the positivism approach, the research design based on the quantitative research design of the Hypothetico-
Deductive Method. As a result, it is expected that an engagement model that is relevant to the current situation will facilitate and help politicians use
social media strategically and effectively in expanding influence in the challenge of a new political era. The benefit is also not to the politicians or political
parties, but to turn to the people as well.

Abstract – Covid-19 pandemic and its contamination restrictions amplify stress. Consequently, the need for coping increases and alternative way for coping
were needed due to the hardship to cope offline. The potential of using social media platforms (SMP's) for coping is undeniable. SMP's provide a communication
channel available almost 24/7, even during a global epidemic. Although studies of crisis communication recommend that users use SMP's differently throughout
a crisis, little is known about what styles and stages of coping behaviour may occur. Additionally, no specific study investigates the features of social media
used during different stages of coping. This study will use netnography and in-depth interviews to discover SMPs' users’ behavioral manifestations during the
COVID-19 crisis. The expected findings of this research are discussed further at the end of this work. The results will help governments or agencies strategies
their information sharing on social media to align with citizens coping needs and strategies. Eventually, this will help reduce anxieties and assist the citizens in
managing their stress during a crisis like the pandemic.

GREEN PURCHASE INTENTION OF NEW ENERGY VEHICLE IN CHINA: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF GREEN TRUST AND WILLINGNESS TO
PAY MORE
Zhang Jingwei, Taylor’s University, No. 1 Jalan Taylor’s ([email protected])
Manimekalai Jambulingam, Taylor’s University, No. 1 Jalan Taylor’s ([email protected])
Abstract - Environmental contamination has become a major worry in recent years, and the energy situation has worsened. As a result, the notion of environmentally friendly,
energy-efficient energy conservation and emission reduction is becoming increasingly significant. Green purchasing intention is critical to meeting emission reduction targets.
In this context, new energy vehicles (NEVs) have been proven to have the potential to lessen the transportation sector's reliance on fossil fuels and its associated emissions.
However, as an emerging product, new energy vehicles still face various challenges, resulting in a low percentage of the auto market share and an unpleasant scenario of
poor awareness. Thus, it is critical to investigate the significant variables influencing customers' green purchase intention for accelerating the rapid development of the NEV
industry. Meanwhile, there is a green purchasing inconsistency toward NEVs will be explained by this model. This study aims to explore the potential factors that impact the
consumer's green purchase intention with new energy vehicles (NEVs). Also, this study will be conducted by quantitative method using Smart PLS 3 and SPSS 26 to analyze
the data collected from a online questionnaire survey of 600 respondents. This study's findings could contribute valuable insights for identifying the driving force of green
purchases and bridge the gap between consumers' green purchase awareness and green purchase related to NEVs, helping NEV manufacturers to facilitate NEV purchases.
Furthermore, the study conceptualizes a new model by incorporating various variables from different theoretical models to explain the green purchase of new energy vehicles
in context.

Abstract – Skills and expertise should be timely transmitted from specialists to non-experts to prevent knowledge loss. In the field of cultural heritage and
safeguarding traditional knowledge, an eloquent tool for knowledge transfer is required to enable participants in accessing, deliberating their experiences, and
battering the tacit knowledge to keep it as it is. The success of an organization proven depends on its capacity for knowledge transfer. Hence the research
analyses and reviews relevant literatures and design a frame work to simplify the process. This study will analyze the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture
(MOTAC) and its relevant heritage agencies core problems associated with knowledge exchange using the qualitative research methodology. The key advantage
of this methodology will collect evidence-based data through subject interviews and facilitates a better understanding of how the agencies interact. Thus,
influenced the creation, transfer, transformation, or diffusion, of crucial tacit traditional information inside the diverse functions’ environment of MOTAC
agencies. The results of this study, supported by a thorough and appropriate grounded theory research technique, will then be used as the foundation for
developing a practical framework that enables heritage key players to efficiently generate a successful intervention and improving organizational performance
while sustenance cooperation in preserving art and culture as our national treasure. In conclusion, this study proposes five significant stages that highlighted
essential elements of a successful and viable transfer of key knowledge among the agencies.

Abstract – The use of computers and the Internet to conduct businesses has significantly increased in recent years. In addition, the number of individuals who purchase online
has continued to rise, meaning that millions of e-commerce client details are being generated daily. Nevertheless, if a company is still managing its data traditionally, it would
be difficult for them to predict, extract, and understand the relevant data and patterns present in e-commerce due to its large amount of information. Therefore, the
organization must start utilizing data mining to assist its e-commerce companies in gaining an advantage over their competitors. Furthermore, by using data mining,
organisations can make better decisions in understanding consumer behaviours during online shopping. As a theory that focuses on understanding consumer behaviours, the
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach is mainly adopted by researchers in the information system field. Due to the limitations of this traditional model, more
clarification is still required. Therefore, this study suggests a conceptual framework using data mining to predict customer behaviour when making online transactions. The
proposed framework serves as a starting point for future research proposals.

Abstract - The fast growth of electronic commerce, coupled with the fact that social media and social networking sites are so popular make the new kind of e-
business called social commerce (SC) possible. In addition, SC has become a medium through which companies connect with customers and gain an edge over
their competitors. There have been many studies on how SMEs use SC, but, until this time, there are few studies on how SMEs in Nigeria implement SC. Many
studies have been conducted on SC adoption in SMEs, however, until now, there hasn't been much research done on SMEs’ adoption of SC in Nigeria. To achieve
the purpose of this study, many relevant and recent studies on SC adoption in SMEs have been examined. Moreover, related conceptual models were also
analyzed. In addition, relevant IS theories and previous studies were studied to identify the most important factors that affect SC implementation in SMEs. The
study will follow a quantitative research approach by conducting a survey on randomly selected entrepreneurs. An initial model was developed considering all
the significant factors identified and which are closely related to current trends and needs. The research will improve the present literature available in the
area, guide SMEs in adopting SC, and provide a hint for future studies.

Abstract - Smart city is an attractive initiative for municipalities to improve operational efficiency and provide quality government service. However, one of the biggest
challenge faced is the funding for smart cities, primarily because most municipality operates on conventional business model. This study focuses on the Klang Municipal
Council (“MPK”) which is embarking into smart city initiative. Like many cities in Malaysia, MPK mostly receive federal government funding. It is unlikely for MPK to sustain
their smart city initiatives on the current business model. Literatures suggest that local authorities need to identify a more viable business model to ensure success of their
smart city ventures. One of the smart city initiatives that MPK has introduced is the smart parking solution. This study explores the business model that MPK has adopted in
its smart parking implementation, and study how, if at all, it has succeeded in addressing the business model financial sustainability challenge with an innovative solution.
This research posits that frugal innovation concept coupled with resource base view may shed light towards the MPK smart parking business model, and extend the principles
derived from the implementation of MPK’s smart parking business model to the business model of other city services. Based on existing smart city business models and
infusion of frugal innovation concept, this study seeks to discover practical learnings and formulate a model that can be emulated by other local councils and smart city
practitioners to address the current problems in smart city initiatives.

Abstract - The growth of social media usage among students is alarming. This socialization phenomenon is a behavioral addiction that is referred to as social
media addiction (SMA) which has been observed by scholars to be affecting the academic performance of higher education institution (HEI) students. However,
limited attention has been directed in the literature toward the control of this behavioral addiction to reduce its impact on the academic performance of HEI
students. The objective of this study is to propose a model to control SMA among HEI students in Nigeria. Therefore, to achieve this aim, this study will 1.
identify the factors causing SMA among HEI students; 2. To develop a model based on the identified factors by integrating two theories namely the Theory of
Planned behavior (TPB) and the Attachment theory (AT). The attachment theory variable will be added as a control variable to the TPB framework. The
combination of these theories will produce a model to control SMA among HEI students; 3. Propose recommendations to control SMA among HEI students in
Nigeria. This research will adopt a quantitative research method to test the model by distributing questionnaires among undergraduate students in HEIs in
Nigeria via their e-mails, WhatsApp groups, and Facebook communities. The hypotheses will be analyzed using the Structural Equation Modelling by smart
Partial Least Squares software (PLS-SEM). The final model is expected to represent the model to control SMA which should subsequently improve the academic
performance of the students in various Nigeria HEIs. Furthermore, this study is also expected to confirm the fact that SMA has a negative impact on student's
academic performance and this can be reduced by parental control using both technological and physical control methods. This study will contribute to the
available literature by adding variables to the revised TPB model that will help to reduce SMA among students of HEIs. Finally, the study will also help to
enlighten the government, parents, students, and authorities of various tertiary institutions in Nigeria on the impact of behavioral control that is expected to
lead to the improved academic performance of students if they effectively use the parental control applications.
