MECCGDIGEST
KEEPING MECCG EMPLOYEES IN THE KNOW ISSUE 07 05 Oct 2017

Pic: Community Ambassador Award Winner Daphne Attridge with Caroline Rassell and Chelmsford MP Vicky Ford

Welcome...

Last Thursday I had the honour of hosting the second annual Marvels of Mid
Awards for people in the community who go above and beyond in supporting
others to Live Well often without thought of thanks or reward. I know the judging
panel had a difficult time selecting this year’s winners given the high quality of
the nominations. Turn to page 2 for all the winners.

More progress has been made over the past few weeks with forming the STP
joint commissioning team. You will be aware I have now been appointed as the Lead Accountable
Officer (AO) for the Joint Committee and Senior Responsible Officer for the Local Health and Care
element of our STP. I will remain as AO for mid Essex CCG but also take the officer lead in supporting
the Joint Committee to discharge its functions, and ensure that we are delivering our sustainability and
transformation partnership plans. I have been appointed on an 18 month secondment basis.

I am also pleased to announce that Louis Kamfer (Basildon and Brentwood CCG) has been appointed
as the Chief Finance Officer, Carol Anderson (Mid Essex CCG) has been appointed as Chief Nurse and
Karen Wesson (Basildon and Brentwood CCG) has been appointed as Director of Commissioning. I am
sure you will join me in congratulating them, and wishing them well in their new role.

The three directors will help me now with plans to align staff. We hope to launch a staff consultation next
month.

One of our long term plans is for Thurrock CCG to be hosting mental health commissioning for the
STP. For mid Essex this is quite complex as our current commissioners are North East Essex CCG. To
support this transition, we will be apppointing a Director of Commissioning for Mental Health. Click here
for full job description.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me, a member of the executive team or Julie Burton in HR if you
have any questions.

Happy reading, The Wizard of New Zealand

Caroline

September Social Event

Members of the Nursing and Quality team enjoyed another social
event held on the 21 September at Chelmsford City Racecourse.

Some of the team were lucky enough to back a winner or two but
unfortunately ‘Nurse Nightingale’ did not make any of the team rich!
However, a good time was definitely had by all.
