● A is for adultery is for the act she did that cost her to wear the A
in the first place.

B

● B is for bosom is where the letter A was located for her
punishment.

C

● C is for Chillingworth, the eil Husband who wanted revenge.

D

● D is for Dimmesdale, who commited sin of adultery with Hester.

E

● E is for Eternity of how long Hester had to wear the letter A.

F

● F is for Father which stands for the unknown father that know
one knew in the beginning.

G

● G is for governor, which is for the authority in the colonies at this
time and age.

H

● H is for Hester which is the main character of the story.

I

● I is for Intelligents which Pearl had when she found out that
Dimmesdale was her father even though know one told her.

J

● J is for Justice which the people wanted because they really
wanted to know who the father is in the beginning of the book.

K

● K is for Kindness which Hester showed for the poor people or
anybody that needed help.

L

● L is for Loyalty that Hester showed to Dimmesdale and
Chillingworth by not telling both of their secrets.

M

● M is for marriage which Hester had messed up because she had
committed Adultery.

N

● N is for Nathaniel who is the author of the book.

O

● O is for opportunity that Hester gets to leave with Pearl and
Dimmesdale.

● P is for Pearl, who is the Daughter of Hester and the Father of
Dimmesdale.

Q

● Q is for quiet, which Hester is around people and she is also a
very quiet person.

● R is for religion which the Puritan town and government was
based on.

S

● S is for secret which Hester is trying to keep from the
townspeople and chillingworth of who the father is.

T

● T is for the torment that each of the characters have in their own
different way.

● U is for unity which Hester and Dimmesdale have at the end of
the book.

● V is for value of the scarlet letter, how something so small means
something so big.

W

● W is for witch, which is what Hester would have become if Pearl
was taken away from her.

X

● X is for xenophobia which is the fear of foreigners and strangers
which describes a trait of Pearl.

Y

● Y is for youth which is the time when Hester was labeled as an
adulterer

Z

● Z is for zeal which Dimmesdale has when he reveals his sins to
the colonists on the scaffold.
