Welcome!

Colleagues,

I know many of you have been listening on my calls and reading my
summary emails in that new form of communication we implemented in
March of this year. However, I also wanted to send out this newsletter with
a more global view of everything going on with the organization.

Scott J. Davis, FACHE This newsletter with include some strategic updates on the hospital as we
Chief Executive Officer have continued to try and stay focused on our other business and patient
safety agendas as we have cared for our patients and employees during
this pandemic. Words can’t explain how proud I am of our team and what
we have done to weather this pandemic. I have seen teamwork
throughout the facility and we have done well to prepare and work
through the unforeseen circumstances of this virus.

I know this is a difficult time for all of us as we work through this pandemic in
both our professional and personal lives. However, I did want to highlight in
this newsletter the items that make me continue to feel that this is a great
place to work with incredible colleagues that we spend time with each
day. I hope this newsletter will give you more information to help you stay
in the know with everything going on as we get through this current
pandemic but also look to our continued bright future. Thanks again for all
you do!

COVID-19 Update

• Surgical procedures – we have currently postponed most surgical

procedures to allow us to address the current surge of COVID-19 patients.

Thank you to all for helping out in all areas to address our needs.
• Screening process will continue – please make sure to notify your manager

of any symptoms
• We now have rapid testing for our employees to help get more immediate

results – dedicated testing for our employees now operating in the Cali

building
• We are continuing to work together with everyone helping in different

areas to take care of our surge and still trying to accommodate our non-

COVID patients that still need care
• We have identified some overflow area for MICU in the endoscopy area

and will have 6 semi-private rooms on MICU to help with our intensive care

surge from COVID-19.
• We will also use PACU for overflow ICU as needed.
• We are continuing to add staffing resources from a nursing and physician

perspective to help with the surge.

have been made to better secure the area in
which you park. The garage now has a full
aluminum gate at both the entrance & exit and
you may only access it by using your badge.
Cameras will be installed next quarter as part of
our large, facility-wide camera upgrade.

Please remember not to leave your badge in
your vehicle!

We Are a Family Full of Heroes

We had over 200+ Thank You cards delivered to us in April, all organized by an 11-year old
girl from Spring, Texas named Jenna Pate. These hand-written Thank You notes came to us

from multiple groups including the Girl Scout Troop 114036, Lemm Elementary PTO, Brill
Elementary PTO, Ohana Swim Team & Children from Lakes of Cypress Forest Subdivision.

Thank you for what you do each & every day for all of our patients, and each other.

Waterproofing & Painting

We are making great strides with the waterproofing project
that began in January 2020. The entire hospital has been
pressure-washed, prepped with 2 coats of water repellent, and
all existing sealant was removed & replaced with new sealant
to protect us from rain leaks.

The 2nd half of the project includes a 2-coat coating system to
help further protect the building, which includes color in the
form of paint.

Other Facility Updates

• As mentioned on the call, we will be replacing the floor in the main hallway due to
not being able to repair and the product not holding up to the traffic in that area.
We will keep everyone updated on the logistics and timing of this project.

• You have probably seen the large cranes in the facility. These cranes are moving
out our old generators and putting in our new state-of-the-art generators. These
generators will create stability in our power source backup and the ability to better
handle power surges in disasters or other outages. Not very glamorous but an
important upgrade for our campus operations.

Our cameras are arriving! We will be installing all
of our new cameras in the facility, in the parking
garages, and around the outside of the facility
over the next 60 days. These cameras have lots
of great functionality like activity tracking,
tremendous zoom capability, and alert features.
We are excited for the benefit that these
cameras will provide to our facility security.

Business Development

• OB Hospitalist Program started April 1 - we now have an OB in house 24/7 to provide OB care to all patients

• Critical Care Intensivist Group changed to Envision Health as of June 1 – we are recruiting several permanent
providers and a medical director that will be with us over the next few months

• Neuroendovascular Program has launched - Cath Lab now has a biplane with a neuro set that allows HNW to keep
all stroke patients in house and provide care. Dr Shamaelah Javed is the director of our neuroendovascular
program.

• New orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Christopher Hulen has joined our medical staff working with KSF.

• Dr. Stephenson, ENT, will be joining Genesis Medical Group in August 1st.

• Dr. Almahmoud, interventional cardiologist, will be joining Dr. Bellera and TCA in August.

• Dr. Sun – neurohospitalist program with Dr. Sadiq has joined us July 1st

• Direct Admit - Physician Relations is working with physician offices to promote use of direct admits. Patients that
need to be admitted will bypass the ED and admit directly to one of our units.

• Surgical Reboot Plan
• I wanted to thank the team that focused on rescheduling surgical cases that were cancelled due to COVID.

HNW Schedulers worked to reschedule almost all cases and ensure availability for new cases to be posted.

Great job to Trena Fielding, Holly Alsworth and all the OR Team for their hard work on a successful surgical

reboot.
• Launched Scheduling Express- online surgery scheduling tool that allows offices to communicate with our

schedulers through the program. Offices are able to see availability and send documents via the program

verses making phone calls.
• We have temporarily suspended most surgical procedures as we deal with the current surge in COVID-19 but

we will use the same tactics to get back up and going as we did in April and May once we are comfortable

with the state of the pandemic.

Events

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest

We had 6 employees shoot 4 out of 5 with their free throws,
nice shooting! They all probably would have got offers from the
NBA but those didn’t work out with the season currently
suspended. Those employees shooting 4 out of 5 were Scott
Smosna, Plant Ops, Brian Raynor, Echo, Meredith Brumfield,
Imaging, Michelle Gallegos, 5N, Rachel Gustafson, Case
management, and Ebony Jackson in EVS. All of these
employees received points for their terrific performance. Your
CEO faired pretty well with his shooting during the day shift at 5
out of 5 but struggled on the night shift with only 2 out of 5, a
rough shooting night. Thanks to everyone for coming down
and participating. For our participation drawing, we have the
following winners of CEO points: Darla Salinas, Lab, Paulo
Bucal, 6S, Kacey Brown, OR, and Tiffany Mcleggan, ED. Our
winner of the Google Nest Hub Max is Medha Kulkarni, Therapy
services.

Ethics & Compliance

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest

© 2019. CONFIDENTIAL – Contains proprietary information. Not intended for external distribution.

ETHICS & COMPLIANCE

At HCA Healthcare, we have a comprehensive, values-based Ethics and Compliance Program,
which is a vital part of the way we conduct ourselves. Because the program supports our mis-
sion and values, it has been incorporated into our daily activities in our tradition of caring for
our patients and how we treat each other. We strive to deliver healthcare compassionately
and to act with absolute integrity in the way we do our work and the way we live our lives.
This program plays a huge part in our achieving these objectives.

Our Code of Conduct provides guidance to ensure our work is done in an ethical and legal
manner. It also emphasizes common values and the culture we share. The Code contains
resources to help resolve any questions about conduct in the work place. Your adherence to
its spirit, as well as its specific provisions, is absolutely critical to our success.

Currently, HCA Houston Healthcare – Northwest, is in the midst of Code of Conduct Refresher
training. The focus of this year’s training is to share perspectives, words, and actions to assist
you in handling ethics and compliance challenges in the workplace. No matter where you
work, no matter what your role, you're part of the HCA Healthcare family.

As always, should you ever have an ethics and compliance concern, please reach out to your
Administrative Leader, Tremaine Gibson, Co-ECO, myself or call the 1-800-455-1996.

And remember, do the right thing.
