13PRABODHAN
On the 27th of September 2020, Prabodhan organised a Zumba session in collaboration with the very popular
fitness brand Decathlon. The session was conducted by Sahaja Venugopal, a professional dance fitness trainer. The cell activities
event began at 5pm and went on for an hour. During that hour, around 60 participants indulged themselves into
some energetic songs and grooved their bodies into the journey of fitness. Zumba is known to have various benefits
for the body and mind and it helps a person to stay fit and rejuvenate. As Prabodhan aims to cater to wellness of the
mind and body, this session helped check those boxes. At the end, everybody shared their positive experiences and
how it helped them. Some began their fitness journey with that session and some re-started their routine after
months of not being able to go to the gym. As the zoom call ended, everyone switched off their videos with smiles on
their faces.
Prabodhan conducted its second Monthly Mindfulness Meet on the 4th and 5th of November 2020. It was called
Rant It Out. It was a one-of-a-kind event wherein the students could anonymously rant out their emotions, feelings or
thoughts. These sessions were taken by the senior committee members who acted as the patient listeners and they
too maintained anonymity. The strongest point of the sessions as that confidentiality was maintained from both the
sides- the speaker and the listener. Around 40 students registered for it and the sessions were conducted on a one-
on-one basis during evening time after 6pm on Zoom. A common review that was received at the end of these calls
was that the session helped the participants greatly and that such sessions are required from time to time in order to
keep mental health issues at bay. Prabodhan takes pride in saying that it was able to make the slightest difference in
people’s lives through such sessions.
On the 4th and 5th of December, 2020 Prabodhan organised ‘Happy Hour’. This event lasted for around 60 minutes
on both the days, starting at 7 pm and had around 100 participants. The first day saw the launch of the event through
‘You Laugh, You Lose’, the first round. This round had the junior batch competing amongst themselves in teams of
three, one team from each division. The twelve teams that began on the first day got reduced to six by the end of
the day through elimination. The second day began with ‘Don’t you dare Answer’, the second round. The six semi-
finalists competed in this round on a one-on-one team basis. The three finalists from this round then competed
against each other for the coveted winner’s title. The Happy Hour event saw the batch of ‘22’s Division F as the
winners and Division D as the runners up.
Prabodhan conducted a monthly mindfulness meet on December 23,2020 which was the first time where the cell
introduced some kind of mindfulness activity to the students. The session was conducted in association with
Heartfulness Institute. The session was conducted by Mr. Anurag Mundra who is a heartfulness meditation trainer. It
started at 7 p.m. and went on till 8:20 p.m., seeing participation from around 90 students. The speaker gave a talk
for about 40 minutes wherein he spoke about how the future looks like from a technological perspective, why
technology is a major reason for our stress? Why Multi-tasking is the need of the hour, how to do it and how
meditation can help in it? The talk was followed by 10 mins guided Relaxation exercise and 20 mins meditation. At
the end of the session, it could be seen from the relaxed expressions of the audience that these techniques were
able to bring peace to their minds.
