What kind of a teacher would you like
to be?

A teacher is a person who gives training or
instruction to others in a school. Teachers have a
responsibility to teach children or students by setting
a good example for them. This is because many
children learn by imitating the actions of people they
respect. So, I would like to become a teacher that
acts as a good role model for them. Acting as a good
role model, I should take good care of my words and
deeds. On the other hand, a teacher can also act as
a street lamp, illuminating in front of the road on
which students walk.

In my opinion, I would like to become a
teacher who has clear communication. A teacher
uses verbal and nonverbal communication skills to
identify student needs and to know when to listen
versus or when to talk. First and foremost, I would
like to communicate with students at the
beginning of the class about how the subjects
could be applied to their daily life such as their
favorite hobbies, sports, and future careers. For
example, mathematics could let students know
how to count in their daily life. Not only this, but
sciences could also let students understand the
appearance of rainbows. This shows that having
clear communication can let students able to
approach the subject in a more creative way that
better supports their learning. So, students would
not feel afraid of those subjects.

In addition to learning, to adjust a student’s needs,
teachers also had to learn how to prepare for every class.
This is because preparation can promote trust from students
and comfort in the classroom, and it allows teachers to
create lesson plans that are catered to each of the students’
needs. So, I will prepare my lesson plan one day earlier
before the class starts. This is because creating a lesson plan
could consider the ways the lesson goes which could shift as
well as the potential emotions, thoughts, and concerns that
each plan could bring up with each student. Then, I would
make sure that students can understand my teaching. Instead
of preparing the question that will be asked from my student,
I would like to use an active playing skill in creative ways
when teaching to solve their doubts and let them understand
easily. For example, I would like to prepare a small game
while teaching to strengthen their memory. In these ways, I
am sure that students can remember at once. At the end of
the class, I could make a summary about what we learned for
that day and give a few minutes for students to ask
questions, it seems like a Q&A session. I am sure that this
could give students a lot of help.

Not only having clear communication, but clear
listening is also important while acting as a teacher. So, I
would like to become a teacher who is a good listener. This
is because listening well is one of the most important skills
needed to become a teacher. On the other hand, listening
skills are also effective in helping teachers to have a better
understanding of their students and the lessons taught. To
become a good listener, I would like to listen to students’
problems patiently. If I do not fully understand what my

request. For myself, I would also repeat what I had
understood in my own words to assess what my student
requested. After listening to my students’ questions or
problems, I would like to give advice to them according to
their problems such as results, emotions, or families. If those
problems happened before, I would also give some
experiences as a lesson to avoid repeating the same error in
their life. After advising students, I hope that they can
become happier. By this, I would feel gratified too that
brought them far away from those problems. In my opinion,
if a teacher can truly hear a student, they can learn how to
reach them where they are.

Following this, I would like to become a sympathetic
teacher. As an empathetic teacher, I will try to understand
what may be going on in my students’ lives. It is important to
take a moment to think back and think about what could be
going on in their lives because I have the responsibility to
take good care of my students by telling them what will
happen in the future or overcome their problems by now.
Besides that, empathy and understanding from a teacher not
only could make a connection with students, but it can also
directly impact a student’s learning in the classroom. From
this, I could give more sympathy and care to my students
since everyone learns differently, whether they could be
faster or slower than normal. So, I need to always keep this
in mind and always pay full attention to make sure that each
of my students is on the track they need to be. For the
student who learns more than normal, I would give them
extra classes to make sure that they could understand what I
am teaching. But in classes, I would not discriminate against
them to protect their heart. By these, I could take good care
of them and make sure they are with me. So, I could have
good and fun lessons with my students since they are willing
to give full concentration in my class.

Lastly, I would like to become a patience
teacher. Actually, patience is important for every
individual since we need to communicate with others.
Whether I am teaching in the classroom, working with
my colleagues, speaking to the parents, good
communication is important for me to avoid
unnecessary disputes. So, patience is one of the most
important skills to practice as a teacher. As a patient
teacher, I would have good communication with my
students since I could solve their problems patiently.
By this, I believe that my students would like to share
anything with me. On the other hand, I would like to
have good communication with my students’ parents
when I am a patient teacher. So, they could
understand their children in school clearly since I have
enough patience. I also believe that my students’
parents will give more trust to me since I could give a
good and satisfying explanation to them.
Furthermore, I could talk to my colleagues when I am
a patient person. I would consider and lend my ears
to them when they are talking to me.

Based on the paragraph above, I wish
to become a good teacher when I am in school. I
hope I will give my students a happy memory in
their school life. In a nutshell, becoming a
teacher is not an easy job or occupation. This is
because the teacher has their own
responsibilities to teach and take good care of
their students.
