Buddha’s relics”

“Traditional procession to
celebrate the Lord Buddha’s relics” or
“chak phra” is a Buddhist ceremony of
residents in the Thonburi side of Bangkok,
who have carried on this tradition for over
100 years, since the early Rattanakosin era
until this day. The celebration is held
annually during every 2nd day of the
waning moon of the 12th lunar moon.
The boat procession begins from
Wat Nang Chi, in Phasi Charoen district,
and heads toward Taling Chan District
Office. Two row boats and many other
accompanying boats are used on Klong Dan
canal route, through Klong Bangkok Yai and
into Klong Chak Phra. At this point, the
officials will transfer the relics to the Taling
Chan District Office and open the area for
the public to pay their respects and worship
the relics. The procession of the Lord’s
Buddha’s relics then returns to Wat Nang
Chi and to its original holding place.

Bucha and Buddhist Lent Days to refurbish, promote
and spread Buddhism as an offering to the Lord Buddha.
All government agencies and private sector in the area
