Myanmar Roadshow 2019 in Yangon, Union of the Republic of Myanmar. BMA participated in the activities of this
Roadshow, such as the Myanmar Business Event Roadshow 2019 and the Media Briefing to promote new markets under
the theme Fly and Meet Double Bonus “Redefine” with representatives of Thailand MICE cities from Pattaya, Khon Kaen,

In 2019, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports,
through the Sports Authority of Thailand, went
through a process of selecting “Sports City” for
Budget Year 2019, with the objective of developing the

sports industry in a comprehensive approach. It is also
aimed at adding value and strengthening the national
economy through development in the area of “Sports
Industry” and “Sports Tourism”. The creation of the Sports
City to become the region’s center for sports is according

to the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2017 - 2021), under the 4th strategy on development of sports
industry to become an important part in economic value addition. “ The committee resolved for ‘Bangkok
Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to pass the selection process and receive the Sports City designation certificate
for 2019 in the category of Sports for Health & Exercise”. In the past years, BMA has focused on the importance
of the sports industry, which will help in developing the city in a well-rounded manner, and is in line with the Sports
City designation in a number of areas, as follows :

Promotion of Sports
and Exercise

The 20-Year Bangkok Development Plan (2013 -
2032) is a framework for implementation of development
projects and activities for the city. The Plan includes a
strategy on sports and exercise promotion. Bangkok has
now become a hub for sports services, exercise centers
and center for health-related activities which cover all areas.
The general public is able to widely use the services and

facilities available. The sports and exercise facilities are as
follows : Bangkok Sports Centers (12 locations), namely,
Prachaniwet Sports Center, Vachirabenjatas Sports Center,
Chaloem Phrakiat Sports Center (Bangmod), Bang Khun Thian
Sports Center, Ramindra Sports Center, Chaloem Phrakiat
Sports Center 72 nd Anniversary, Sports Center Nong Bon,
Water Sports Center, Chaloem Phrakiat Sports Center 84t h
Anniversary (Bang Bon), Mitmaitri Sports Center, Onnut
Sports Center, Bangkok Arena Sports Center, Varee Phirom
Sports Center and Bangkok Youth Centers (35 locations),
and Bangkok Youth Centre (Thai-Japan). Apart from this,
other agencies under the BMA have additional facilities,
namely the sports areas/courts under the Sub-district
offices, public parks under the Environment Department,
as examples.

Development of Excellence in Sports

BMA has carried on the policy Sports Training Center. The management approach is used in sports development
of developing and improving the three towards excellence under the theme “Building Model Youths, Integrity in Sports
Youth Sports Training Centers, namely and Developing Towards Excellence”. Currently, there are a total of 743 students

Apart from this, BMA also promotes and supports
development of sports towards excellence, sending a sports
team under it to compete both nationally and internationally,
such as in the National Sports Competition, National
Paralympics, Student Sports Competition, National Youth
Sports Competition, School Sports Competition of Thailand,
International Children’s Game (ICG), Sailboat Competition
at the Top of The Gulf Regatta and Asia Junior​Sports
Exchange Game, as examples.

Promoting Sports Industry
and Businesses

BMA utilizes a strategy on investment promotion,
using it as an approach to add-on to the efforts to promote
sports industry and sports-related businesses. Support
is provided to advance sports tourism, particularly the
large scale events like Amazing Thailand Marathon,
Olympic Day, Bangkok Midnight Marathon and Bangkok
Marathon. Venues are available for the activities, such
as marathon routes : Sanam Luang- Baromrachonnanee
Rd., Rama VIII Bridge and park run routes : Lumpini
Park, Jatujak Park, Vachirabenjatat Park, Suan Luang
Rama IX Park, Bung Nong Bon Park.

Apart from this, under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, there are locations available for other
types of sports competition, such as 1) Water Sports : Nong Bon Water Sports Center 2) Cycling and Extreme
Cycling Routes : Varee Pirom Sports Center 3) Indoor Sports : Sports Gymnasium 1 and 2, Bangkok Youth Centre
(Thai-Japan), and Bangkok Arena. Moreover, there is also various multimedia available, such as the BKK Connect
application, website www.bangkok.go.th/cstd, Facebook Fanpage of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department,
Youth Sports Center and public relations posters all across Bangkok.

เมืองกีฬา (Sports City) จึงมิใช่เป็นเพียงเมืองท่ีมีความเพียบพร้อมของสนามกีฬา ส่ิงก่อสร้าง
และสิ่งอ�ำนวยความสะดวกส�ำหรับนักกีฬาหรือหน่วยงานท่ีเกี่ยวข้องกับกีฬาเท่าน้ัน แต่ยังเป็นสถานที่ที่มี
การจัดกิจกรรมและการสร้างบรรยากาศในการเล่นกีฬา การออกก�ำลังกาย และนันทนาการอื่นๆ ให้แก่
นักกีฬา นักท่องเที่ยว และประชาชนทั่วไปอีกด้วย ซ่ึงสิ่งเหล่าน้ีเป็นผลผลิตท่ีช่วยกระตุ้นให้ประชาชน

The “Sports City” is therefore not only a city that is prepared in terms of sports venues,
construction or facilities for athletes or agencies related to sports, but it is also a place to hold
activities and build an atmosphere in playing sports, exercising, and recreation for athletes, tourists
and general public. These are the important output that will help boost the interest of the people in
their love for exercise and in taking care of health for to have healthy bodies. Through these efforts,
a better quality of life will be achieved and thus help move the country forward towards stronger
development.

In 2019, BMA, though the Division of Music, under
the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, organized
The Musical Compositions of His Majesty King Bhumibol
Adulyadej Singing Competition. The BMA recognizes the
value of His Majesty’s Royal Compositions in terms of its
rhythm and lyrics, as well as its poetic masterpiece that is
a source of thought, morale and expression of the beauty
of Thai language, which is a very important part of our
culture. Each and every Royal Composition are invaluable

and recognized in the musical arts industry throughout the
world. They also make known to the world His Majesty’s
musical genius, commemorate His Majesty the Late King
Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and celebrate His Majesty
King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Music is also used as a medium
to build good conscientiousness, nationalism and love of
the institution among the Thai youth. The activities have
been held annually, and this is the 17th year.

The competition is categorized into 3 levels, namely the Elementary Level (7 - 13 years old), High School
Level (13 - 19 years old) and Tertiary Level (19 - 25 years old). The championship competition was held on
4 August 2019 at the Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre, Wangburaphapirom, Phra Nakon. Those who have passed
to the championship competition level are able to sing Royal Compositions with the Big Band of Bangkok as well.
During the event there is an exhibition to celebrate and chronicle the history of the 48 Royal Compositions. There
is also a rendition of 15 Royal Compositions by the competitors, as granted Royal Permission to disseminate
the pieces, and for the trophies for winners as well.

The “youth” are often compared to young
plants sprouting from the ground, or the roots and

foundation that will steer the direction of future creativity
towards a strong society. To build strong human resources
for the nation, there needs to be creative learning processes
and comprehensive development of the body, heart and soul,
emotion, social relationship, intellect, morality and ethics, all
at the same time.
The Bangkok Youth Centre (Thai-Japan) is cognizant
of the duties to develop human resources and its responsibility
to develop and promote children and youth. The Center has
managed sports and recreation welfare activities as one way

of developing the quality of life of the people
in the urban area, and it has also promoted
the virtues strengthening morality and ethics,
as well as the arts, culture and traditions which
help mold the youths into tomorrow’s good
citizens of society. Beyond this, the opening
up of opportunities for youth to participate in

activities and projects is considered a
motivation towards developing the
work process and creating activities.

กรุงเทพมหานคร (ไทย - ญี่ป่นุ ) ไดส้ าน ซึ่งส่งผลให้เยาวชนและกลุ่มเยาวชนที่ได้รับรางวัลสามารถเป็นตัวอย่างที่ดีให้กับ

ไดฝ้ กึ ฝน สรา้ งสมประสบการณ์ มจี ติ อาสา ความสามารถ พจิ ารณาคัดเลือกผลงาน และมผี ไู้ ดร้ ับการคัดเลือก จ�ำนวน 9 ด้าน
แล้วส่งผลงานที่โดดเด่นเข้ารับการ รวม 53 ผลงาน ยกเวน้ ดา้ นอาชีพ ไมม่ ีผผู้ ่านการคัดเลือก
คัดเลือกเพื่อรับรางวัลเยาวชนดีเด่น เป็นที่ทราบกันดีอยู่แล้วว่าเด็กและเยาวชน คือ ทรัพยากรมนุษย์ที่ทรง

จติ อาสาเพื่อสังคมอยา่ งต่อเนื่อง โดยจัดต้ังเป็น “สภาเยาวชน
กรุงเทพมหานคร” เมื่อวันที่ 6 มกราคม 2549 ตามระเบียบ
กรุงเทพมหานครว่าด้วยสภาเยาวชนกรุงเทพมหานคร
พ.ศ. 2549 และจดั ตงั้ “สภาเดก็ และเยาวชนกรงุ เทพมหานคร”

ส่งเสริมการพัฒนาเดก็ และเยาวชนแหง่ ชาติ พ.ศ. 2550 และ

กิจการสภาเด็กและเยาวชนกรุงเทพมหานคร ให้มีพ้ืนท่ี
สรา้ งสรรคส์ ำ� หรบั เดก็ และเยาวชนในเมอื งหลวง ในการรวมพลงั
จัดกิจกรรมท่ีเป็นประโยชน์กับทุกภาคส่วน เพ่ือพัฒนาเด็ก
เยาวชน และสังคมให้มีคุณภาพ เป็นเวทีสร้างประสบการณ์
การทำ� งานใหเ้ ดก็ และเยาวชนมคี วามรคู้ วามสามารถ และมที กั ษะ
ชีวิตเพ่ิมมากขึ้น กล้าคิด กล้าทำ� กล้าแสดงออกอยา่ งเหมาะสม
สอดคล้องกับความรู้ความสามารถที่พัฒนาข้ึนตามช่วงวัย
สามารถด�ำรงชีวิตอยู่ในสังคมอย่างมีศักดิ์ศรี มีภูมิคุ้มกัน และ
ปรับตัวเข้ากบั การเปล่ยี นแปลงของยคุ สมยั ไดอ้ ย่างเท่าทนั

Children and Youth Council of Bangkok

Since the year 2000, BMA has assembled youth
groups from all areas of Bangkok to join hands and
collaborate in holding continuous volunteer activities. The
“Youth Council of Bangkok” was established on 6 January
2006 according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration
Regulation on Youth Council of Bangkok B.E. 2549. The
“Children and Youth Council of Bangkok” was created on
7 October 2008 under the Royal Decree on Promotion of
National Children and Youth Development of B.E. 2550.
Later, the two councils were merged into one “Children
and Youth Council of Bangkok” on 16 December 2017
under the Royal Decree on Promotion of National Children
and Youth Development of B.E. 2550 and Amendments
(Second Issue) of B.E.2560.

For the past two decades, BMA has supported the learn and acquire work experiences, knowledge and build
activities of the Children and Youth Council of Bangkok to capacity and skills, to have the courage to think, act and
have available creative space for children and youth in the express themselves appropriately. This is in accordance
capital city. This is a collaboration of energy from different with the knowledge and capabilities that develop through
sector, to in turn, produce benefits for all sectors, and to different age groups. The youth will be able to live in
develop children, youth, and the society at large towards society with dignity, equipped with immunity and are
better quality. It is also a stage for children and youth to adaptable to the changes of the times.

The “Children and Youth Council of Bangkok” is a valuable resource that is an
important catalyst in developing Thai society forward, while nurturing the children and
youth to hold a sense of volunteerism in them towards sustainable development, to learn
time management skills, and to do good for society with a sincere heart. The Bangkok
Youth Centre (Thai-Japan) and the kind adults are at hand to render support for them
as always, under the concept “Children Think, Do and Lead : Enduring Support from
Adults”. In the future, these children and youth will be capable and happy citizens, truly
growing up in a quality society.
