What are you up to right now?
Recently, the Reds released me from their organization,
but I got picked up by an indy ball team out here called
the Lake Erie Crushers. It’s a whole lot better out here
than Arizona but my body doesn’t agree with the cold.
But I like it a lot out here, we’ve got a really good team
and Kokko Figueiredo is here with me too.
What is a typical day like for Damian Henderson?
I get up in the morning and I have some breakfast with
the boys. I usually talk about the upcoming game with
my roommates/teammates. I get to the field in the

What are some of your favorite memories 50 years of field notes,

I’ll give you a couple. One of my favorite
memories was when it was my birthday and (and home to former Crab Dan Duke ‘98–’99)

birthday and that goes to show how amazing
Humboldt County is. Number two was breaking 21
the home run record. I remember getting hot
early on and cooling down right before and I
was struggling and I remember telling myself to
relax. The pitcher threw me an 87 MPH fastball
inside that jammed me so bad but it got out. I
just remember all the coaches jumping up and
the crowd and it was this surreal moment of
breaking something that I said I was gonna do at
the beginning of the season.
What were some of the things you did in your
free time while with the Crabs?
When we would get done with a series at home
we would go to College Cove and have a lot of
fun around the fire pit. We would tell stories, sing
songs, play games, and throw a football around.
I would also bring some sandwiches and go
to the Redwood Forest and find some fallen
Redwood and listen to how quiet and beautiful
the forest was. I also played pool at HumBrews
and ate at Toni’s 24 Hour Restaurant.
What advice do you have for current Crabs?
Come to Humboldt with an open mind and you
will have the best experience you possibly can.
Is there anything you want to tell the fans?
I miss them all. I hope their heckling game has
gotten better because it was already prestigious.
Cheer on the Crabs that are here to play for you,
without them there would be no Crabs.
