Chapters 1-8

Prologue

Question:Explain the purpose of Mae Tuck’s trip.
My Answer:Mae Tucks trip was to go to the edge of the village
of Treegap to meet her two sons,Miles And Jesse, Mae Tuck did
this every 10 years.

Question:Summarize how the month of August is described.
My Answer:The Month Of August is described as hot and still
with no movement in the first week, but the rest of August is
cold and has a little bit of motion to it.

Chapters 1 and 2

Chapter 1 Question:Explain why no one ever goes into the woods.
My Answer:there was no road through the woods and it was
private property owned by the Fosters.

Chapter 2 Question:Name the member of the Tuck family.
My Answer:Mae Tuck is one of the members of the Tuck
Family.Her two sons are also part of the Tuck Family, their
names are Miles and Jesse and Angus Tuck.

Chapters 3 and 4

Chapter 3 Question:Why did Winnie have to go into the house?
My Answer:Her mom and grandma called from the window
telling her to come inside because her lunch was ready and
her mom was worried that she would get heat stroke.

men with long black mustaches, she felt scared and confused.

My Answer:The person that didn’t drink from the eternal spring
was the cat.

Summarize
Chapters 1-8

In chapters 1-8 of Tuck Everlasting, it describes how Winnie Foster meets the Tucks.
To Start, Winnie lives in an overprotective house in the village of Treegap with her
parents and grandmother.Their house is on the edge of the woods they own but
never go into. Meanwhile, The Tucks are getting excited to see their sons whom they
have not seen in ten years. Mae is heading off to meet them, but they say that she
has to be careful not to be seen. She does not look in the mirror before she goes
because it says she has looked the same for the past 87 years. Mae takes along her
music box as she goes off to meet her sons. Next,Winnie has a conversation with a
toad. She talks about how hard her life is and she decides to run away. That night
Winnie heads out to her yard and meets a stranger walking by who asks her about
the woods and the people she knows in the area. He tells her that he is looking for a
family. Winnie’s grandmother comes out to tell Winnie to go inside. Just then some
music is heard in the woods. The grandmother says it is the elf music she hasn’t
heard in years. Winnie thinks it sounds like a music box and the stranger is very
interested in it.
After That, Winnie got kidnapped by the Tuck family and was told about the eternal
spring, She tried to drink from it before she got kidnapped.In chapter 7, the Tucks
explained to Winnie that they were trying to move around The Wood a a long time
ago, so they kept setting up camp in different places and they all had a drink from
every stop except for at one of the Stops the cat didn't drink,after the whole Tuck
family had death experiences where they should've died but they didn't and the Cat
died after a while but the rest of the tuck family hasn't changed till this day. In the
last chapter, Winnie started to talk to the tucks about how they have been holding
this secret for so long and now she is the only other person who knows about the
spring, While They Were walking Winnie saw the man in the yellow suit but didn't
mention it.

Chapters 9 and 10

Chapter 9 Question:How do the Tucks make the trip easier for Winnie when she feels

hot and tired?

My Answer:Jesse held Winnie most of the way there so she
could cool down because she was very hot from walking the
whole way there.

Chapter 10 Question:Explain why the Tucks have to move soon.
My Answer:The Tucks have to move because they can't stay in
one place for too long.

Chapters 11 and 12

Chapter 11 Question:What has to happen in order for Winnie to go home?
My Answer:Winnie has to never talk about the spring to anyone
in her life.

Chapter 12 Question:How does Winnie feel about death?
My Answer:She fears it, like most children do, She absolutely
despises it.

Chapters 13 and 14

Chapter 13 Question:What news did the stranger reveal to the Fosters?
My Answer:He knows where winnie is and will take them to her.

Chapter 14 Question:What is ironic about Winnie missing her home?
My Answer:Her family know knows where she is and Winnie
was thinking about how the stranger probably told her parents
and they are probably looking for her.

Chapter 15 Question:What did the Fosters decide to do?
My Answer:The Fosters decide to give in and trade the wood to
get Winnie back.

Chapter 16 Question:Why is the stranger being so “closed mouthed”? Explain.
My Answer:The stranger is being “closed mouthed” because he
does not want anyone to know about his actual plan.

Chapter 17 Question:Explain what happened when Miles caught the fish.
My Answer:Winnie stared at the fish while it died and told Miles
to put it back over and over and he did.

Summarize
Chapters 9-17

In chapter 9,The Tucks are heading back to their home with Winnie
Foster to meet Angus Tuck, Maes husband.In chapter 10,Winnie was
shown around the Tucks property and was told why the boys are
always away from home.In chapter 11,The Tucks are at the table
eating dinner and Winnie says she wants to go home and mae says
she will take her home as soon as possible and Tuck takes her out on
the rowboat to explain why they took her to the house.In chapter 12,
Tuck is with winnie in the rowboat and talks about why they took her
there but at the end of the chapter Miles came and said someone had
stolen the horse.In chapter 13, The man in the yellow suit told the
Fosters that he knows where Winnie is.In chapter 14, The tucks talk
about how the thief took the horse and why the thief took it but
everyone just needed to rest so they all went to sleep.In chapter 15,
The man in the yellow suit talks to the tucks about where their
daughter is and will only tell them if they give him the wood for their
daughter,and they agree. In chapter 16, The man in the yellow suit
talks to the constable while they are going to the Tucks house With
The Fosters and about how they need to get there fast.In The Last
Chapter, Miles takes Winnie fishing for breakfast but she won’t catch
the fish, so Miles has to do it and when he does catch a fish winnie
tells him to put it back.

Chapters 18 and 19

Chapter 18 Question:What did the family have for breakfast?
My Answer:Flapjacks, bacon, The same stuff they had
yesterday.They tried to catch fish but Winnie wouldn’t keep em.

Chapter 19 Question:What is the stranger’s plans for the woods?
My Answer:He would sell the eternal water to people for a very
big amount of money.

Chapters 20 and 21

Chapter 20 Question: Explain what will happen to Mae if the stranger dies.
My Answer:If the stranger dies then Mae will have to go to the
gallows which is where they hang people,or she will be sent to
jail and then get hanged,technically Mae will get hanged

Chapter 21 Question:What happened to the stranger?
My Answer:The stranger died after Winnie hit him with the
shotgun so Mae will be hanged, or will she?

Chapters 22 and 23

Chapter 22 Question:What did Winnie learn about toads in this chapter?
My Answer:WInnie learned that toads don't drink water after
Mae said they don't because it won’t benefit them.

Chapter 23 Question:Why is the weather so difficult to bear during this time period?
My Answer:because they didn't have coolers and fans or
anything to keep them from getting heat stroke.

Chapters 24 and 25

Chapter 24 Question:What sound symbolized the exit of the Tucks?
My Answer:The sound of rain crashing down and the sound of
thunder mixed with the flashes of lightning hitting the ground
not far away.

Chapter 25 Question:How much time has gone by since that fateful night?
My Answer:It has been 2 weeks since they broke out Mae from
the jail.

Epilogue

What does the reader learn from the epilogue in this novel? Do
you think the epilogue was necessary?

The reader learns that the Tucks are really eternal and that
Winnie died two years before, The year is 1950.I think the
epilogue was necessary because it showed that the Tucks were
saddend by Winnies death.

Chapters 18-25

In chapter 18, Winnie and the Tucks are sitting eating breakfast after Miles and
Winnie tried to catch some fish,Mae asks Winnie how she slept and then right after
Winnie says she slept good,Someone knocked on the door.In chapter 19, The stranger
was at the door and wanted to take Winnie back to her parents,but the tucks said no
and that they were taking her back to her parents,and so the stranger came in and told
them about how when he was little,he had his grandma tell him about stories that were
wack,but he believed them,and how he grew up knowing about one story that he wanted
to find, it was the one with the people who were eternal,so his whole life he searched
Treegap but he never found them,but then he heard the music box that was Maes music
box from the story and then at the end,Mae hit The man in the yellow suit in the back
of the head,which killed him.In chapter 20,The constable tells Mae that she will go to
the gallows if The stranger dies,and The constable takes Winnie to her house and He
takes Mae to the prison,But it was true,the gallows would not be able to kill her.In
chapter 21, Winnie gets back to see her mother and grandmother,but the constable
says to Winnie and her Mom that The man in the yellow suit is dead,so they get to keep
the woods,but Winnie could not believe that he is dead, because Mae Tuck can Not Go
to the gallows.In chapter 22, The day is very hot that the earth under the gate at the
Fosters house is dried up,Winnie sees a toad on the path outside the gate and asks her
mom if they give give it water to drink,but Winnie’s mom says toads don't drink
water,they take it in on their back,At the end of the chapter,Jesse tells Winnie about
the plan to break out Mae.In chapter 23,It was the hottest day in the history of
Treegap according to Winnie,While she slept she dreamt about her time, and she woke
up 5 minutes to midnight and she said to herself,”I have not missed my moment.In
chapter 24,The Tucks and Winnie try to break out Mae at midnight,and during the
escape, it pours down rain and strike lightning everywhere,but at the end, Winnie is in
the cell and she peak’s out the window, But the Tucks are gone.In chapter 25,Winnie
has been waiting and looking for the Tucks,but she knows they are not coming back,It
has been two weeks since that fateful night,she saw a dog, and she saw the toad,she
poured water on the toad, and finally she set it free from her yard.

Miles dismantles the jail cell
window and helps Mae escape.

Mae get so mad at The Man in the Yellow The constable comes into the jail
