flight marksman since his summer 2015 arrival at Bournemouth, and is now approaching 02
a half-century of Premier League goals. He began his career in his homeland at Valerenga
before Manchester United came calling in 2009. Following his first-team debut for the
Reds in the League Cup against Wolves, King then embarked on a series of loan spells
at the likes of Preston North End, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Hull City and Blackburn
Rovers, the latter eventually signing him on a permanent contract in 2013. He moved
to the Cherries in 2015, scoring the winner against former club Manchester United a
matter of months later. The goals have continued throughout his time in the top flight,
while King is also a Norwegian international.

COLOURS
TTRrue ColoursUE We all have our favourites when it comes to
past Spurs kits and, sometimes, they can evoke
memories of specific games, moments and the
players who wore them. Continuing our series
for the 2019/20 season, Billy Shaw chats to our

players – past and present – to find out what
comes into their minds when they look back at
a selection of our shirts from seasons gone by.
Today, we speak to right-back Kyle Walker-Peters,
a boyhood Spurs fan who has come up through the

ranks and into the first team squad…

125 YE ARS

SPURS AWAY KIT,
2007/08

“I actually wore that kit!” smiled Kyle, casting his
eyes over our dark blue Puma away strip from
2007/08. “It was a while ago. How old would I have
been? About 10?”

A quick bit of maths proves the full-back right.
“Yes, I was 10. I remember wearing this kit in the
Under-11s when we played at Myddelton House,
right next to where the Training Centre is now in
Enfield. Obviously this was the away kit, though,
so we’d have been in white at home, but we played
a lot of Premier League teams at that level and we
wore this one in a few away games.
“I was playing as a right winger at the time. Josh
Onomah, Luke Amos… they were in that team
with me.”
This was one of four outfield kits released
during that campaign as we celebrated the Club’s
125th anniversary – the usual home, away and
third kits were accompanied by a special-edition
sky blue-and-white-halved shirt which we wore
in the unforgettable 4-4 draw with Aston Villa to
mark the milestone in October, 2007.
As with all the other match apparel during that
season, this kit had ‘125 years’ embroidered below
the Cockerel.

“I don’t remember wearing this kit myself,” added
Kyle. “I don’t think we would have had it in use for
our age group in the Academy but, like I said, I just
remember Gareth scoring some important goals in
it for us.”

SPURS AWAY “I have good memories of this kit from a personal True Colours
