Right now, we are slowly making our way out

However, while we are making progress to
depart our isolation, Davinson is all too aware
that the disease is yet to fully be defeated and,
therefore, we must tread carefully.

“The lockdown was a tough period,” the
24-year-old admitted. “But we’re still in that

we need to keep going. We have had to adapt

2 PHIL GRAY

Future Northern Ireland international striker Phil Gray was among
four debutants in a virtual Spurs reserve side that lost by the only goal
to champions Everton at Goodison Park in our final league game of the
1986/87 season.

Gray was joined by fellow new boys John Moncur, Paul Moran and
Mark Stimson for the game that was played just five days before our
FA Cup Final meeting with Coventry City. Substitute Derek Mountfield
scored the winner.

We were subsequently fined by the FA for fielding a weakened
team. It would be Stimson’s only league start for us.

Under David Pleat’s management, we also finished third in the
table, lost the FA Cup Final 3-2 after extra time and reached the semi-
final of the League Cup. England international Clive Allen scored a
remarkable 49 goals in all competitions, finishing as Division One’s
leading marksman with 33.

He was later named joint Footballer and Player of the Year.

OBITUARIES Fan Zone

We were sorry to hear of the passing of the following Spurs supporters:
Season ticket holder Patricia Flattley, who sadly passed away on 20 January.
Nicholas William Killone, who passed away suddenly on 29 April, aged 31. His favourite thing was travelling with
his sons Archie, eight, and Eddie, five, to watch us play home and away many times. He will be deeply missed by
his sons and all his family and friends.
Kathleen Louise Donovan, who passed away on 13 April, at the age of 89. A Spurs supporter for over 70 years,
she courted her husband-to-be Maurice by cheering on the team at the Lane as we won back-to-back titles in
1949/50 and 1950/51. They were regulars at matches together for many years and she was lost for words when
meeting Jimmy Greaves in the mid-1960s while out shopping on Tottenham High Road. She will be sadly missed
by her children Michael, Christine and Sean and all her family and friends.
Ray Waltham, who sadly passed away on 22 April, aged 72, after losing his battle to cancer. He was a Spurs fan
from an early age and always loved watching the team play. He leaves behind a loving wife, four children and
seven grandchildren.
John Mitchell, from Takeley, who died on June 3 at the age of 69.  A life-long Spurs fan, he was born in Waltham
Cross.
Nigel Hooper, who passed away on 5 April, aged 69. A passionate Spurs fan, he supported us as a child before
becoming a season ticket holder since the late 1980s and then sharing his passion with his son and grandson.
He will never be forgotten.
Stephen Peter Jones, who passed away on 13 May, at the age of 57. He will now be cheering from the heavens,
another angel in a Spurs shirt.
Anthony (Tony) Robert Pethick, who died on 29 May, at the age of 67. He lived for Spurs and would travel to
every game with his best friend, Frank. He used to travel by moped all the way from Newmarket, to watch his
beloved Spurs. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

We would like to extend our condolences to their families and friends at this sad time.

TRANSFORMING
OUR STADIUM

Transforming our stadium

Football made its long-awaited return to Tottenham  As a result, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only

transformation had taken place at our stunning arena.
Our world-class, multi-purpose venue has enabled the

Club to quickly facilitate the return of football operations
while adhering to all health and safety protocols and
continuing to accommodate NHS services and our food
distribution hub.

Thanks to purpose-built NFL facilities in the East Stand,
our home players and staff have sole access to a vast area,
including:

• A locker room intended for use by an entire travelling NFL
roster – enabling ample social distancing while maintaining
comfort and match preparation routines
• A press auditorium that has now been converted into a
meeting and relaxation area for home coaching staff
• The East Quarter – a spacious lounge and bar area used
by corporate hospitality guests on matchday

The away teams and officials have continued to use
their assigned facilities within the West Stand – meaning
a minimal chance of interaction between groups of players
and officials away from the pitch.
