Muletape

NEPTCO Muletape - NEPTCO’s family of measuring and pulling
tapes substantially reduced cable installation labor, material, and
inventory costs by providing a threading line, a measuring tape,
and a winch link all in one product. MULETAPE reduced damage
to underground plants, improves efficiency, and enhances worker
safety. Our tapes are manufactured with a low stretch polyester
material that distributes heat across its wide, flat profile. This
improves efficiency and prevents “snap back”, which occurs when
a rope under high tension elongates and either breaks, or snaps
back...often injuring the installer. Lower elongation, reduced pulling
time, enhances worker safety, and prevents crushed capstans.
Lightweight, easily blown through conduit or inner duct. Accurate
sequential footage or meter markings enable monitoring of cable
location during a pull, eliminate the need for measuring tapes and
help determine the quantity remaining on a partial roll. Variety of
constructions available: woven, jacketed, aramid and polyester.
Packaged in splice-free lengths up to 100,000 ft. (30km) for faster,
easier cable placement. Available in a variety of strengths up to
6,000 lbs. (2727 kg). Easily spliced using conventional methods.
Standard MuleTape: Minimum Reel - 3,000 ft.

H. NEPTCO Muletape is recommended as a low-cost substitute for F. CABLE PULLING,
1/4” polypropylene rope. While it does not offer the many benefits HANDLING & PREP
associated with our standard MULETAPE products, FLATLINE
does not provide a lower coefficient of friction, elongation of less
than 10%, and is safer to use than regular polyrope. FLATLINE
is available in reel lengths of 3,000, 5,000, and 80,000 feet.
Approximate width - 1/2”. Typical MULEKNOT strength = 850 lbs.
FLATLINE is not available printed. Min. Reel - 3,000 ft.

I. NEPTCO Detectable Muletape is a low stretch, high strength

G.woven tape, produced with abrasion-resistant polyester or aramid
fibers and a corrosion-resistant metallic conductor. This unique
combination provides users of Detectable MULETAPE with a
single product for detecting, measuring, and pulling. Features
& Benefits: Prelubrication reduces friction levels and eliminates
duct cutting. Lower elongation reduces pulling time, enhances
worker safety, and prevents crushed capstans. Extrusion-friendly
conductor insulation allows for pre-threading of inner duct. Highly
functional at a wide range of frequencies compatible with any
commercial transmitter/receiving equipment. Lightweight, easily
blown through conduit or inner duct. Accurate sequential footage
or meter markings enable monitoring of cable location during a
pull, eliminating the need to measuring tapes and help determine H.

chains: 10,600 lbs. working load. Higher Wear Resistance: Due
to the special form of the profile chain, a larger contact area is Alloy
achieved between the bearing surfaces of the links. This in turn Master
reduces the surface pressure on the chain and consequently
reduces wear substantially. This is a real advantage in abrasive Link
environments. G120 meets or exceeds the following NACM/
ASTM-test requirements for lifting chains: Exceeds the 4:1 NACM
safety factor if G80 loading is used; Meets the NCAM standard
for heat resistance with 400°F; Meets the 20,000 cycle ASTM-

G58 Twintex® Endless Roundslings

CABLE PULLING, Length = Bearing to Bearing TWINTEX® Lifting Solutions - The TWINTEX® Roundsling is
HANDLING & PREP manufactured from a continuous loop of high-tenacity polyester
yarn encased in a smooth, double-wall tightly woven cover without
any edge seam. Because the load-bearing core yarns are encased
by the cover, they are protected from cuts, abrasions, and the
harmful effects of ultra-violet rays. Removal from service can be
determined if the red-striped white core yarns can be seen through
any holes or cuts in the cover. Most TWINTEX® Roundslings
feature a cover made from the same type of yarn as the core,
permitting a quick external examination to reveal any possible
chemical damage that may have also affected the load-bearing
core yarn which might require the sling’s removal from service.
The TWINTEX® E1000 roundsling features a texturized nylon
cover to provide greater abrasion resistance.

TWINTEX® Roundslings have a core of endless, high tenacity
polyester yarn encased in a tough, double-wall cover.

Two-Ply Construction - Twintex® roundslings have a two-ply
cover which protects the load bearing core yarns. The covers are
color-coded to make load capacity easily identifiable, even from a
distance.

FEATURES:
• The most flexible style of sling
• Less rigging weight
• Easy handling
• Wear points can be shifted to extend life
• Color-coded capacity identification
• RED core warning fibers
• Models up to and including the E800 feature polyester

covers and core yarns
• Roundsling Model E1000 features a texturized nylon

G61Sling Angle Capabilities

Sling Angle Capacities SLING ANGLE CHART

If you know the lifting angle of the sling being used, you can apply Angle from (1) Capacity Reduction (2) Load Multiplier
the Capacity Reduction Factor(1) or the Load Multiplier(2) in the Horizontal Factor
Sling Angle Chart. If you don’t know the angle:
90̊ 1.000 1.000
• Attach the sling(s)
• Apply lift until the slings are taut and the load is ALMOST read to leave 85̊ 0.996 1.005
the ground (BUT DO NOT LIFT THE LOAD OFF THE GROUND)
• Measure the length of the sling between the lift point and the load. 80̊ 0.985 1.016
• Measure the height between the lift point and the load (See Fig. 1)
75̊ 0.966 1.036
Situation 1: Capacity Reduction Factor
When you know the appropriate rated capacity of the sling, and 70̊ 0.940 1.064
you need to calculate its actual capacity (based on the sling
angle), follow the instructions below: (Example uses a measured 65̊ 0.906 1.104
length of 12 feet and a measured height of 8 feet.)
60̊ 0.866 1.155
Measured Length(L): 12 feet
Measured Height(H): 8 feet 55̊ 0.819 1.222
Reduction Factor(RF) = H ÷ L = 8 ÷ 12 = 0.667
Rated Capacity* of sling = 1,000 lbs. 50̊ 0.766 1.306
Actual Capacity of sling = Rated Capacity x RF = 1,000 x 0.0667
= 667 lbs. 45̊ 0.707 1.415

40̊ 0.643 1.556

35̊ 0.574 1.743

30̊ 0.500 2.000

Situation 2: Load Multiplier Fig. 1 CABLE PULLING,
When you know the actual weight of the load, and you need HANDLING & PREP
to calculate the appropriate rated capacity (based on the sling HL
angle) of the sling to lift the load, follow the instructions below:
(The Example uses a measured length of 12 feet and a measured
height of 8 feet.)
Measured Length(L): 12 feet
Measured Height(H): 8 feet
Load Multiplier (LM) = L ÷ H = 12 ÷ 8 = 1.5
Load weight: 1,000 lbs.
Necessary Rated Capacity* of sling = Load Weight x LM = 1,000 x
1.5 = 1,500 lbs.

*Make sure the “capacity” is appropriate for the hitch you are going Example:
