2018-19 COST OF ATTENDANCE/BUDGET

BFA + POST BACCALAUREATE

COST OF ATTENDANCE (COA) OR BUDGET:

The total amount it will reasonably cost a student to go to school and is usually expressed as a
yearly figure. It (COA) is determined using rules established by the U.S. Congress. The COA
includes tuition and fee charges, housing and food allowances, and allowances for books,
supplies, transportation, loan fees, and if applicable dependent care, costs related to disability,
and miscellaneous expense, including a onetime allowance for the purchase of a personal
computer. To be clear, the only amounts of money that you are responsible to directly to LCAD
are the tuition, fees, and room if you are living on campus. All other costs are estimates used to
establish need and are not paid to LCAD.
When you apply for federal student aid, the information you repot is used in a formula established
by the U.S. Congress and the Department of Education. The formula determines your Expected
Family Contribution (EFC); an amount that you and your family are expected to contribute toward
your education. Although this amount may not exactly match that amount that you and your
family are actually contributing.
There isn’t a maximum EFC that determines eligibility for other financial aid programs. Instead,
your EFC is used in the following equation to determine your financial need:

Cost of attendance (COA/Budget)
– Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
= Remaining Need (Remaining eligibility for funds)
