From September 2021 we offer a
BSc (Hons) programme Nutrition &
Lifestyle Medicine validated by
the University of Northampton.
Therefore, we are very excited
about this new partnership as we
share many values with the
University programme.

Clinical Excellence

T he BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine
incorporates comprehensive academic and
clinical excellence through training based on a
functional medicine model.

It has been designed to provide you with the
confidence and skills to become a safe and effective
nutrition practitioner. As a result, you will be able to
communicate appropriately with the medical
profession.

The core curriculum for nutritional therapy (which
must be met for NTEC accreditation) stipulates that a
minimum of 70 hours of development and
supervision of clinical skills is required. 

Our BSc (Hons) course provides approximately
112 clinical contact hours.  It comprises small-

group clinical seminars delivered throughout the
course. Students also deliver supervised live
consultations to four clients in the level 6 Clinical
Practice modules.

NTEC requires a minimum of 15 case studies to be completed. BCNH course, however, provides the
opportunity for students to complete approximately 35 increasingly complex case studies. These case
studies are fictional, observational, role-play, and supervised with real clients.  

Real client case studies also incorporate writing referral letters to your clients’ GPs (with their permission). As a
result, you will learn to work with the medical profession.

The broad nature of the clinical training, coupled with the continuous development and support for the
development of clinical skills, ensures that you will leave the programme confident in your ability to
practice and focus on generating business, rather than being concerned about effectively carrying out a
consultation.
