MAT BALL

BADMITON Badminton is a racquet sport played using
racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net.

Objective: Team with the most points win

FOUR SQUARE Four square is a ball game played among four players on a square
court divided into quadrants. Separate into teams and two people
from each team go every two rounds.

These situations represent all the ways in which a player may be
eliminated from the court.

Players are eliminated for:

• Failing to hit the ball into another square

• Allowing the ball to bounce more than once in their own square

• Hitting the ball out of bounds

• Hitting the ball incorrectly such as holding, catching or carrying

• Hitting the ball with a part of the body that is not a hand

Equipment Required: rubber balls, half a court (full sized court if
multiple stations), tape

Objective: score against the opposing teams

SACK RACE The sack race is a competitive game in which participants place both
of their legs inside a sack or pillow case that reaches their waist or
neck and hop forward from a starting point toward a finish line.

Equipment: sacks and cones

Objective: The first team to have all of their players cross the finish line
is the winner of the race.

MUSH BALL

Mushball is a lot like softball, except
the ball is so much softer and larger.
There is no need for a glove, you
catch it with your hands and because
it is so soft, it is difficult to hit very
far. Each player is only allowed 3
pitches.
Equipment: full court, cones, a ball,
and a bat

throwing, catching, running, etc. team

THREE-LEGGED A three-legged race involves two participants completing a race with
RACE the left leg of one runner strapped to the right leg of another runner.

Equipment: Cloth and cones

Objective: The objective is for the partners to run together without
falling over, and beat the other contestants to the finish line.

GUARD THE The teacher now places a hoop in the middle of the circle. One
PLAYER player is selected to be the target and another player is selected
to be the guard. The target player must stand with both feet in the
hoop. The group’s challenge is to complete a pass to the target
player without the guard intercepting the ball. If a pass is complete,
the target player returns to the circle and the guard becomes the
target player.

Equipment: hoola hoop, rubber ball

Objective: work on catching, passing. Get the ball to the target
palyer

WORLD CUP

Divide students into teams of 4-6 people.
Set a starting line and a turnaround point for each team.
The teams stand on the starting line and work together to lift the ball with the noodles – no one may touch
the ball with their hands.
Once the ball is over their heads the team must move as a group to the turnaround point and back to the
starting line without dropping the ball.
If the ball falls, the entire team returns to the beginning and starts over.
EQUIPMENT: cones, large pool noodles and give every team a large ball (volleyball or foam ball)
OBJECTIVE: The first team to make it to the turnaround point and back wins.

TUG-OF-WAR Tug of war is a sport that pits two teams against each other in a test of
strength: teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to
bring the rope a certain distance in one direction against the force of
the opposing team's pull.

Equipment: rope, cloth/ tape, and a cone

Objective: the team that pulls the cloth to the closest to their side wins

new Flee a five second headstart).
If a Flee gets tired of running, they may relay the foamie to any
frozen player (the players then exchange roles).
If a Chase gets tired, they may tag in any frozen player (the
players then exchange roles).
