10To advertise call 07858 114061Dave’s top tipsPainting a flush doorA flush door is a door without any additions. There are no panels or glazing windows just a straight forward flat faced door. Painting a flush door, although they are the most basic of doors, is one of the hardest job of all door painting as there can be no break when painting a side. If you stop for more than a minute or two the edge of the paint hardens and this can show through the painted finish as a ridge in the paintwork. The flush door should be held open by using door wedges pushed in under the door after a piece of cardboard or old carpet off cut has been pushed under the door to protect the floor. Take off the door handles and smear a tiny bit of Vaseline on the hinges. This will stop any paint sticking to them and if you do get paint on the hinges it will allow you to wipe it off easily. Use the hose of the Hoover to suck out any sawdust from the lock or latch apertures.Flush doors can be painted by using a roller and if you do this use a small (radiator) roller. Go over the rolled door with a dry brush to brush out any stipple effects the roller may have left. It is much better, especially when using gloss paint to use a roller with natural fibres such as sheepskin, mohair or wool.RegardsDave Stevens. If in doubt call me (see main advert for number) and I will do the investigating for you.Disclaimer. All advice above is given in goodwill with many years experience. We cannot guarantee however that your problems will be rectified so please, if in doubt call us before undertaking any works yourself.

Thought for the month: Blessed are the peacemakers? The work of peacemakers in places of conflict and division is hard, careful work of finding compromise and helping different sides to see one another’s perspective. Lasting peace comes from focusing on what we have in common as fellow human beings. This does not mean ignoring the wrongs or allowing injustice to stand. Forgiveness too can be a long, hard road. The reality is that no-one truly wins through repeating the cycle of polarisation, division, and violence. We all benefit from true and just peace.Finding peace within our own lives also needs to be made, rather than waiting for some imagined future when there will be no more demands on us. To cultivate peace in our lives is not about being free of worries or issues, but rather being able to stand firm through the storms of life, feet firmly planted on the solid ground of who we are and what matters. Christians are encouraged to remember that we are all made in God’s image and saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Nothing can take that away from us. From this truth, we can look at others and try to see God’s image in them too. In this way, peace is made and all are blessed.By Rev. Dr. Joseph Mottram
