FALL 2022 ALUMNAE NEWSLETTER IN THIS ISSUE: Letter from Chapter President Meet the New Members Fall Graduates Event Highlight Powderpuff Semi Formal Spike Out Event Pictures Election Updates The Official Newsletter of the Gamma Phi Chapter at Seton Hall University
As our members begin wrapping up the Fall ‘22 semester, we look back at all of the many good works our chapter has accomplished this term. Moving back fully in-person after nearly 2 years of online and hybrid programming was no easy feat, but the 2021-2022 Officer Team helped ease the transition for us and led the Gamma Phi chapter to so many wonderful successes. Philanthropically, we were able to raise over $2000 for the Arthritis Foundation through our signature event “Spike Out Arthritis” as well as create a brand new philanthropy event “Kick It For Kristen” to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation in honor of our sister Kristen McCartney where we raised $1,826.50. We also welcomed 6 new members into our chapter and we can’t wait to learn and grow with them! Gamma Phi is successful because of its members and its leadership. The past Officer Teams and Leaders Councils have put our chapter in a position to grow exponentially, but also impact so many lives on our campus and beyond its gates. I’d like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for not only caring for this chapter with so much tender love, but also showing me how to be a great leader. Entering into Gamma Phi’s 9th year of sisterhood on the Seton Hall campus, our members continue to build our legacy and I am honored to have been elected as Gamma Phi’s Chapter President. I cannot wait to continue the growth started by our past presidents and officers this year. Updates from our Chapter President: Morgan Hurlock

Semi-Formal:Gabby Scipioni Semi-Formal this semester took place at Casa Del Sol in Union, NJ. The room was beautifully decorated beforehand which added to the ambiance of the night. The theme for this Semi was “The Final Rose”, an allusion to the Bachelor/Bachelorette. There was a sevencolor dress code that included colors like red, navy blue, and gold to match the theme of the night. Rose petals and candles were all over the room to set the mood of the night with a beautiful banner that was hung up that displayed a batch of roses with two diamond rings. All our sisters danced their hearts out on the dance floor before and after eating from the seven-option buffet that included things like eggplant parmesan, penne vodka, and so much more! Superlatives were the highlight of the night for many of the sisters of Gamma Phi as they brought a lot of laughs and energy to the room. Overall, Semi-Formal was an absolute blast, and every sister had a fantastic time! Spikeout: Eliza Cashman Event Highlights Powderpuff: Isabelle Garino AOII participated in AGD x Dphie’s annual Powderpuff tournament on October 22, 2022. For this season, we got paired with Alpha Sig. Pat Hepner was our head coach, Jack Heenan was our offensive coach, Max Zeller was our defensive coach, and Josh Smith was our morale coach. Other brothers of Alpha Sig also helped out our girls during practice, showing them how to do certain “cellys.” Gabby Scipioni and Natasha Silverlieb were our quarterbacks. Sarah Balda was the key to our strong offense, barreling through other teams’ defenses to get us to the endzone. Allison Woolard also was a great asset to the team and could be relied upon to catch a long ball. Cat Larouche and Isabelle Garino put their all into being cornerbacks, both playing through injuries on the field. Despite injuries, the girls pushed through and made a great performance. Sophia Dinman, Ashley Bernhammer, and Grace Pivarnik showed newcomers the ropes and displayed skills on the field. Grace Pivarnik was selected to be Captain by the Alpha Sig coaches and led us in chants and huddles. On game day, we wore black paired with purple eye black to honor Kristen and the Epilepsy Foundation. Even though we did not make it as far as we did the prior season, the girls exited the game proud of their performance and with many laughable memories. Alpha Omicron Pi hosted our annual Spike Out Arthritis Volleyball Tournament this past fall, and it was an absolute blast! Mallory Horowitz, Isabella Garino, and I served as referees overseeing the games and ensuring good sportsmanship. Cat Larouche led the event as our philanthropy chair and ensured that the brackets were created and organized. Spike Out Arthritis has always been one of our most popular events as we raise money for AOII's national philanthropy: The Arthritis Foundation. Nancy Sorbela, from the new york city chapter Arthritis Foundation, came to speak about the importance of Arthritis Awareness and how it silently affects so many Americans each year. Our philanthropy is one I hold very close to my heart, as many of my family members deal with Arthritis daily. Through this, I have always been strongly tied to AOII's National Philanthropy and enjoy knowing that my sisters and I are contributing to our community through service.
