Description :
The tree is medium to large size, stands 10-30 meters tall with a straight trunk, round bush canopy, soft branch-
es with soft hairs and black outer bark. Its scaly bark is pale yellow. If cut off, white sapwood runs and turns the
core black.

Habitat and distribution :
In Thailand, the tree is found 5-500 metres from the sea.

Ethnobotanical Uses :
Its wood is the heaviest of all that grows in Thailand, being solid and durable and used to make sturdy furniture
and appliances. It can also be used in Thai musical instruments and fabric dying. If mixed with rain roots and rice
water, it can cure nausea. Its skin can be used as a preservative. The raw fruit can also drive away tapeworms or
hookworms.

แผน่ ใบรูปไขห่ รอื รูปไข่ ดอกเลก็ สีขาวหรือขาวอมเหลอื งออกรวมกนั เปน็ ชอ่ ส้ันๆ ตามง่ามใบ กลมเกลี้ยง

การกระจายพันธ์ุ :
พบข้นึ ตามป่าเบญจพรรณแลง้ ทั่วไป ทสี่ ูงจากระดบั น้าํ ทะเล 5 - 500 เมตร

ประโยชน์ :
เน้ือไม้ มีน้าํ หนกั มากทีส่ ุดในบรรดาไม้ทีข่ ้ึนอยใู่ นเมืองไทย แข็งแรงทนทานมาก ใชท้ ําเคร่ืองเรือน เคร่ืองใช้อยา่ งดี เคร่อื ง
