VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR 2020 VITA PROGRAM
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is looking for more
volunteers to assist in tax preparation this upcoming tax season! The VITA
Program operates 17 sites across Lancaster County to assist those who
make under $62,000/year in filing their taxes for free. Don’t have experi-
ence in doing tax returns, that’s okay! We conduct in-depth training during
November, December, and January to ensure that our volunteers have the
tax knowledge and software skills necessary to complete high quality tax
returns. Our sites also need greeters, who serve as the first point of con-
tact for tax clients upon entering the site. The role of greeter needs no tax
knowledge at all!
Last season, the Ephrata VITA site completed 2,319 tax returns – more
than any other site in Lancaster County. To once again serve as many
clients as possible, we need more volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, or hearing more about the
work we do in the community and how you can be involved, contact Jesse
Brubacher at 717-824-8146 or [email protected]

Smiles of Joy!

Smiles of Joy is a Dental Outreach program of Welsh Mountain Health Centers that helps
those in the community gain access to dental care at various locations within Lebanon and
Lancaster counties.

A public health dental hygienist will be coming to the Community Commons on a monthly
basis to set up her portable dental equipment on-site for dental appointments.

The services provided are dental screenings , cleanings, and fluoride application. They are
offered to both adults and children starting at 1 years old.

It is very important for children to get screened at an early age. Along with a screening
and cleaning, children also receive fluoride varnish on their teeth to help prevent cavities.

The dental outreach program accepts all medical assistance plans and most commercial
dental plans. For patients that are uninsured, we offer a special discount rate based on the
slide scale program.

All patients seen for these preventive dental hygiene services will be referred to Welsh
Mountain Health Centers for a full exam with x-rays and any restorative work such as fillings,
extractions, etc. (if needed ). All toothache emergencies should schedule with the dental
center directly at 584 Springville Rd. New Holland, PA, 1-717-354-4711.
If you are interested in making a dental appointment, please sign up online at our events
calendar with your information. A medical history will need to be completed prior to your
appointment time. Please bring your insurance card with you on the day of your appoint-
ment.
