THE 7 SISTER STATES

North-east India is an unmatched paradise on the planet. Indian tourism takes pride in introducing the 7
sister states of India as an authentic treasure where you earn an experience which is not even an inch closer
to what's it like while traversing the mainland. The family of 7 sister gems consists of states like Meghalaya,
Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura.

1. ARUNACHAL PRADESH
CAPITAL- ITANAGAR
Being the largest among the seven sister states, It has 26 major tribes and 100 sub-tribes. More than
half of the land in this state is forested. Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is the birth place of the 6th Dalai
Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, known for his love of wine and poetry.

2. ASSAM
CAPITAL- GUWAHATI
Assam is organically gifted as well as widely celebrated for its proximity to the river Bhramaputra. It is
home to Majuli, the largest river island in the world, which lies on the Bhramaputra river. The
Kaziranga National Park in Assam is known all over the world; the state also has the world's oldest
operating oil refinery in Digboi. It also owns the noteworthy location of Kamakhya Temple. Assam is
best known for providing more than 60% tea to entire India and the unique quality of silk.

3. NAGALAND
CAPITAL- KOHIMA
Home to the fierce Nagas, the land is also renowned for the vibes and shades of Harnbill Festival, held
in the first week of December. It is also called as the land of festivals. It is also worth visiting for old
monuments and forests.

4. MANIPUR
CAPITAL- IMPHAL
Also known as the multicultural society. It is the unspoilt gem of North East India. It has the only
floating park in the world known as the Keibul Lamjao National Park. It is also home to the almost
extinct brow-antlered deer. Manipur finds a lot of mention in the ancient scripture MAHBHARATA.

5. MEGHALAYA
CAPITAL- SHILLONG
If literally translated, it means the abode of clouds. Meghalaya is the land of the Living Root Bridges.
It is famous for being one of the rainiest places on earth. Also, it hosts a number of music fests.
Mawlynnong ( God's own garden ) , Elephant Falls, Umiam Lake, Shillong Peak, Ward's Lake etc. are
the best tourists places. It is locally called the Scotland of India for its fantastic locations like the
double-decker living root bridge in cherrapunji and few large caves.

6. TRIPURA
CAPITAL- AGARTALA
It was ruled by the Manikya Dynasty, with an unbroken lineage of 184 kings before India's
independence from the British rule. It thrives by cultivating oranges, pineapples, rubber, bamboo,
tea, paddy, etc. Tripura has a lot of Temples and Palaces.

7. MIZORAM
CAPITAL- AIZAWL
It has been named after an old tribe inhabiting the region. It is one of the safest place to visit in India,
and can be best visited during the Chapchar Kut Festival celebrated in March.

THE MORNING RIDE BOXLESS

Morning cycling feels so cold, Stop shoving me,
You will see few people on the road, Trying to fit me,
they may be young or may be old and all the shops are closed. Within your tiny box.

Riding up and riding down, I will not fit,
On the blue cycle or maybe brown, I will never fit,
So let me be.
In the valley or call it a town, Don't conform me
Doon is our Nation's Crown, To the standards
I neither ride too fast nor too slow, Of your tiny mind.
These boxes of yours,
As the winds gently blow, They limit you,
sometimes after the sunset glow. And your thoughts.
I will not make it easy,
I just dont break my flow. For you to judge me.
Oh!!! What a silence can I feel, Instead I will become box-less.
Chirping birds and all green trees, Think what you may,
Those honking of the cars which are not near but too far. But your petty thoughts
Don't bother me,
Why write all this?? Cause I know what I am.
Go for cycling, don't have fear,
Wake up early and pick your bikes Kashish Sehgal,

It's fall again.
And as the chill sets in
The tree helplessly watches
Leaves crisp and mellow
Falling each time the breeze blows.

Perhaps they are kind,
To leave without goodbyes

To let the tree survive
They breathe a little,
And just fade away.

If only they knew-

From my window I cherish
Their sacrifice, their fall
Not for everything dying,

But for life and it's strange ways.

Come Spring new leaves will bloom

CAN YOU HEAR IT WEIGHT OF THE WORLD

Why do we have to ('Nothing's harder than to let someone down,
Make sense, all the time? who entrusted you with everything they had.')
Why do we have to talk,

A beautiful land in itself? Cursing your past, all the innocent follies
You look at the clock; try to fall asleep as fast as you can.
Why do we have to You don't want to go back there. 'Forget it, move on '
Indulge with others, You say to yourself; 'what's been done is already gone now'.
When we still don't know It's what it is, the supposed past, the future ahead.
But in your mind and in your ears, you listen to this ringing;
Our secrets, and You hear the screams and the angels' voices, calling out your name.

Bothering about doing Or is it just nothing?
Still scheming about your future, what lies ahead of you?
The small talk Questioning everything; always telling yourself,
When we can 'Maybe, you're not worth it after all.'
Lay down quietly, Breaking free and living a life is all you want.
Under a night sky, But what about the people that actually trust you.

Every story we hold within? You left them somewhere, far behind, didn't you?
All those people who trusted you!

SUCCESS: THE TREASURE

Once there was a little girl named Emily. She was beautiful and really smart. But she was really under
confident she doubted herself a lot. Her classmates took advantage of this thing to let her down. She
never shared her problems with anyone. She was a good sports person, a good writer and was also
good at studies. She had all the qualities, what she needed to do was to believe in herself. It was not
at all her fault, there are bad experiences in a person's life which break them and make it difficult for
them to trust themselves.
One day her teacher caught her writing on the bench, at first he thought she was scribbling but when he
saw carefully he find out that she was making phrases. He took Emily to the headmistress and told her
what she wrote. The headmistress was impressed, she asked the HRT to indulge Emily into activities like
story writing, debates etc. Emily was praised in front of her class. She gained self-confidence and took
part in many competitions and won most of them.
Self-confidence is the map which can help you to find the treasure of success and dedication is the key. If
you have all three no one can stop you from achieving your goals.

EDUCATION IS THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH
BETTERMENT OF EVERYTHING MUST BE BUILT.

“Give me an educated mother, I shall promise you the birth of a civilized, educated nation”, said
Napoleon Bonaparte in the 18th Century. Even today, his words ring true, especially in the developing
world, where nations are still struggling to achieve equality in education.

While education for girls has become a strategic development priority globally, we still struggle with it in
our country. “It is absolutely important to educate girls. “Many parents and teachers/ educators claim
that a mother is a child's first teacher and that an educated mother will be able to raise better educated
children.

Girl of today, mother of tomorrow !

The girl of today is the mother of tomorrow and her own education and knowledge, her own economic
standing and success, will impact the future of the generation she brings up.

There is an African proverb which states “If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you
educate a woman, you educate humanity” meaning if a girl is educated, she will transfer that knowledge
and values to all those around her resulting in a positive ripple effect.

Hence educating girls is critical not only for the development of communities and broadly for society as a
whole but also it is the most sustainable way to address global challenges like poverty, health issues,
ignorance, lack of tolerance and conflicts, among others.

Education empowers women !

Eastern philosophy says—while with one hand a woman shake the cradle, with the other hand she would
change the world!

Education empowers women, makes them aware of their rights, and enables them to maintain good
health and raise healthy children and families.

When girls and women are educated, they make sure that their families grow and thrive in peaceful

conditions and not be involved in wars – no mother wants conflict, war, and hunger for her children.

Thus, education of girls and empowerment of women can work wonders in building not just a strong

nation but a peaceful one too.

Educate women and see reform !

COPING WITH COVID-19

Covid-19, it's a name that has not only changed the way we thought but the way we live. Myself being a

Covid warrior and survivor, I feel now I have seen and felt all stages of this pandemic. In November 2020,

Covid-19 just started with a news and it seemed just another day when while playing in the evening, I was

discussing about this deadly disease with my friends. We all thought it was a disease which was meant to

affect its country of its origin, however none of ever expected, even in our dreams, that we will be facing

this storm and losing our loved ones. Living in the dark shadows of uncertainty and terror, to hiding

behind N-95 face masks and running away from everyone including our loved ones on the pretext of

social distancing, this pandemic of Covid-19 has changed our lifestyle in totality. I always thought

maintaining good personal hygiene was important but never realised, before pandemic, that it could

even be a life saviour for each one of us. What famous doctors and high profile medicines could not do,

good personal hygiene in terms of frequent washing of hands, appropriate use of hand sanitizers and

social distancing norms did. I always thought of getting unrestricted access to laptops / tablets and

mobiles and never realised my wish will come true and I will have these gadgets in my hands but will not

have time to play games and watch videos on them. My next door friends were now so far that we could

only interact with them through windows, either of my flat or my laptop screen through zoom meeting.

Zoom meeting is another unexpected storm in lives of each one of us, which was unheard and unseen

even couple of year ago. My classroom, my playground, is now my screen and we will have to live this way

till the time storms of Covid-19 are over. Getting infected by Corona was a nightmare for me. But then this

deadly virus taught me the lesson of my lifetime that it's not the medicines but the willpower and

TRY ME!!!

The biggest mistake people make is that, they think life is a “question”, because there are many things they don't know
about, they put a 'why?' After every problem they face, they use a '?' instead of a '.'. According to me life is an 'ANSWER'.
Life is an answer what we all need to do is recognize the questions. Every grief is a lesson, happiness is a reward, pain
braces you for the difficult times, and love is a medicine. People wander in search for answers to their questions which
according to me is just a waste of time and energy. Their life itself is the answer what they all need to do is, find that one
exact answer they need. As kids we all have done comprehensions, the unseen passages….that's what we have to do, the
answer is in front of us, all we need to do is search for it. Read your life from top to bottom, analyze it, don't leave even a
single incident, you will start getting the answers, if not at the first attempt maybe at the second. Keep trying till the time
you get the answers.
We should never forget our mistakes, don't regret it but don't even forget it till the time you find out why that happened,
till the time you learn a lesson from them don't forget it. Teenage, it's that part of a person's life, in which the best thing he
could do is make mistakes. The person who doesn't dare to do something new just because he's scared of making mistakes
will make a lot of mistakes in his life ahead, at those crucial times where not the mistakes but their lessons were needed.
There is no one who's perfect, making mistakes is human tendency. It's better to make mistake and learn from it when you
can face its consequences. You can never be a loser by making mistakes, but if you'll not make mistakes and learn from
them you can never be a winner either.
'PERFECT', this seven letters word has a positive sense and there are many words which are considered negative but
without them this word has no meaning, those words are: mistakes, failures, pain and grief; a person who has not gone
through these can never be 'perfect'. Perfection is that path which ends at infinity but as you go down on it you start
becoming better than yourself with each step. There are millions of people around you and millions of opinions, criticism
and compliments but you are only one, so you should not let every single opinion affect you, you should know whom to
listen and whom to not.
So if you go through tough times then remember you are lucky, life has planned something great for you and therefore is
preparing you for that, not everyone gets the chance to learn from his or her life, not everyone gets the chance to achieve
something huge.If you get it don't miss it.

When life test's you stop saying “why me” Samiksha Dhiman,
And say “try me”….. Class - 11F
