As an educator, I believe that it is important for education to
be based on ‘drawing out‘ rather than ‘drilling in’ and that is
the philosophy that we wish to encourage.
Since time immemorial there have been discussions about what is
taught in schools. Socrates was fed poison and the price paid by
William of Ockham and Galileo is common knowledge; however
everyone involved needs to appreciate the fact that what was right
yesterday may not be so today. Education is dynamic and constantly
evolving.
We too as a school, are taking baby steps in that direction.
The touchstones of education thus far have been Reading, Writing
and Arithmetic but in the present, unprecedented scenario we have
redefined it to Rethink, Realign and Redesign.
I’m positive that our resilient, innovative students supported by
their school and family will overcome with aplomb any obstacle that
life chooses to throw their way and towards that I wish them

The Asian School is affiliated to the
Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE), Delhi. The school
is from class I to XII and offers all the
three streams - Science, Commerce
and Humanities for class XI & XII.

Academic Year

The academic year begins in early
April each year.

Registration Rules

Registration forms are available at The Asian School, Vasant
Vihar, Dehradun. Forms can also be downloaded online or a
request may be made for them to be home-delivered at +91-
9897396504/ +91-8755524444. The registration form is priced
at INR 5,500. This registration amount is non refundable and
will not guarantee admission.

Admission Procedure

Following registration, all candidates will be assessed
on their academic capabilities and performance in
English, Mathematics and General Science.
Assessment will be based on minimal development
levels required at the conclusion of the previous
class, in keeping with the school syllabus.

The assessment will be followed by an interview
which will be aimed at determining the congruency
of the parental point of view with that of the school
and interpreting the subject scores of the students
with regard to their potential, aptitude, personality,
intelligence, sporting skills, aesthetic and creative
abilities and any other criterion deemed notable by
the admission committee. Failure to attend the
above interview will cause the registration to lapse.
In such case, the registration will be considered null
and void and the registration fees will be forfeited.
The admission committee will be the final arbitrator
in such cases and may at its discretion conduct
another test in genuine cases, if so justified.

Required Documentation

Eligible applicants who are offered admission must avail of
the offer within the specified time by paying the necessary
admission dues as specified in the current year's fee
structure and returning the duly signed indemnity
agreement (on judicial stamp paper) to the school.

Applicants must also submit a copy of Aadhar card and the
medical history form duly-filled, failing which the offer of
admission will lapse. Along with the duly-filled admission
documents, the applicants also have to submit the original
transfer certificate and the report card from their previous
school.

Withdrawals

If the student is withdrawn or does not join before the
start of the academic year Registration, Admission and
Term Fees shall be forfeited in favour of the school and the
remaining Imprest* and Security fees shall be refunded.

Parents who withdraw their child mid-term will not be
entitled to any refund of fees. Parents who propose in
advance to withdraw their child in a given term must give
due notice in writing to the Principal no less than 90 days
before the start of the new academic session, failing which
the security deposit will be forfeited.

Security Refund

A formal letter of request for refund of security is required.
Security refund will be made at the end of November after
the school audit.

Prohibited Items

All forms of intoxicants (tobacco, liquor, drugs, etc.),
weapons, pets, expensive jewellery and items such as
mobile phones and other communication devices will be
prohibited on campus.

General Rules

a. The school lays emphasis on self discipline for without
discipline it is not possible to achieve excellence in any field.
Discipline will never be harsh or humiliating and corporal
punishment is prohibited. It is our aim to inculcate in each
student good manners, a sense of cooperation and respect
for elders. However, keeping the interests of the entire
student body in mind, it will be necessary to punish cases of
anti-social behaviour. In extreme cases of misbehaviour, the
school may be forced to expel the offending student.

b. As per the school rules, the change of status from Boarder
to Day-Scholar is not allowed under any circumstances.
