Approving time in Self Service Time and Attendance (SSTA)

Log in to the new SSTA (Self Service Time and
Attendance) by logging in to Navigator
and clicking on the Employee Home tab.
Click the link in the center called
MassHR-Time and Attendance

You will see your employee id, and a link to the
mass.gov/masshr site to log in.

Enter your employee id and assigned password.

As an approver, you will have additional links in the left hand menu called Commonwealth of MA and
Manager Self Service. Your approvers dashboard will be located under the Commonwealth of MA link
along with a like to allow you to delegate and Manager Self Service will give you the ability to enter a
timesheet for an employee.

Approving time in Self Service Time and Attendance (SSTA)

Click on the Commonwealth of MA link.

Click the Manager Dashboard link.

The Dashboard Summary screen will
show you all of your employees in list
format.
You will see multiple columns, but only
need to be concerned with the first six.
Payroll will be using the other columns.
The Unapproved Reported column will
show 37.5 if your employee has
completed a timesheet. Blank
indicates they have not completed a
timesheet for that week yet.
Be careful, at the bottom of this screen you will see buttons to “select all reported” and “approve
reported”. You DO NOT want to approve your employees time without checking it first to be sure it was
entered properly. Instead, click on your employee name.
The timesheet for your employee will
pop up.
Here you can verify time was reported
correctly to the proper TRC (Time
Reporting Code) and that reported time
is equal to scheduled time.

to verify time is take appropriately.

Click the yellow “approve reported” to

If you have more than one employee to approve,
you can click the link for “Next Employee” to view
the next timesheet, rather than going back to
the Dashboard and selecting from your employee
list.
Follow the same procedure to approve each of
your employees.
Use the Next Week or Previous Week links to approve
other weeks of time that has been submitted by your
employee (i.e the employee has submitted vacation time

for the next week. You can approve it early, no need to
wait to approve).

If you have an employee who has not submitted time and you are willing to enter it for him/her, you can
enter their timesheet. For example, an employee has gone off on vacation and forgot to do a timesheet,
you can use your Manager Self Service link to enter a timesheet for your employee.
Timesheets can be entered for an employee from the
Manager Self Service link.

Click on the Timesheet link
under Report Time.

Enter the employee number of your
employee for whom you are entering
time.
Click the Get Employee button.

as needed and click submit.
You can now approve the timesheet from this same screen, no need to return to dashboard summary to
approve.
Select all days so that green checkmarks appear in the Select column. Then click the Approve Selected
button.
Your timesheet for your employee is
complete. When they return, they can
make any corrections needed and you
will re-approve.

If you have been delegated to approve while someone is away, use that managers group id to look up
his/her employees. Enter the Group ID
and click Get employees.

Follow the same approval process for each
of these employees.
