WESTCOAST SPORTS ASSOCIATES FOUNDERS 25 YEAR LEGACY

Four friends got together for a breakfast in Manhattan Beach,
California in 1994 and wondered if they could create a
synergistic group of individuals who could help perpetuate the
life lessons they all had learned by participating in team sports
as children. Their long-standing personal relationships,
imagination, vision and commitment to the original idea, in
addition to each, at different times, taking on the role of president
of WSA, has enabled tens of thousands of economically
disadvantaged kids the opportunity to participate in unique WSA
youth sports programs. WSA is now in it’s 25th year of helping
make sports possible for all children.

A Volunteer Organization

WSA’s leadership team is made up of 70 volunteer
members who serve on committees to collectively
influence equal opportunities in sports for the
children of Greater Los Angeles.

Providing Grant Funding

Since 1995, WSA has allocated $3.5 million in
support that has allowed the City of Los Angeles
Recreation Centers and nonprofit youth sports
administrators to charge affordable program fees
and offer hundreds of participation scholarships for
children 5-12 years of age.

Community Partners

Youth sports programs receiving WSA grant
distributions provide safe facilities for young people
to call their own, offer sports activities that influence
healthy habits, and introduce participants to
coaches and volunteers that become positive role
models and life-long mentors.
