Electro Mechanical IETELMT-430 Hydraulic Fundamentals – In- Person Course# IETELMT-430-32854 &33304 – 10/16/2023- 10/30/2023 Instructor: Markazan Romero Phone (909)652-8498 E-mail: [email protected]: The lecture & the lab will take place at the InTech Center in Fontana on MTWTH from 8:00a.m until 2:10p.m. The course material basically from Amatrol LMS Fluid Power library. The course grading will be done in Canvas. Students Advisory Hours: MTWTH: 7:30 a.m until 8:00 a.m & 2:10 p.m until 2:40p.m on the same days. Or by appointment. For Instructor-Student Communication Plan, please click here- My Communication Plan Course Catalog Description: Introduction to hydraulic fundamentals, demonstration of hydraulic power, basic circuits, functional circuits and troubleshooting. Course Objectives: 1. Experiment with hydraulic power. 2. Analyze the function of five basic components of a hydraulic system. 3. Design a dual cylinder hydraulic circuit. 4. Connect and operate a bi-directional hydraulic motor using a 3-position, manually operated DCV. 5. Calculate the retraction force of a cylinder given its size and pressure. 6. Connect and operate a hydraulic DCV with a tandem center. 7. List and describe the operation of five methods used to synchronize cylinders. 8. Design a circuit to provide a two-pressure control with unloading. 9. Evaluate the fundamentals of pressure, force, work, and power. 10. Construct circuit for cylinder operation.


11. Construct functional circuits with hydraulic motor circuits. 12. Formulate troubleshooting techniques. Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs): 1. Upon successful completion of the IETELMT-430 (with a grade C or higher) students should be able to analyze the function of five basic components of a hydraulic system. 2. Upon successful completion of IETELMT-430 (with a grade C or higher) students should be able to calculate the retraction force of a cylinder given its size and pressure. 3. Upon successful completion of IETELMT-430 (with a grade C or higher) students should be able to design a circuit to provide a two-pressure control with unloading. 4. Upon successful completion of IETELMT-430 (with a grade C or higher) students should be able to connect and operate a bi-directional hydraulic motor a 3- position, manually operated DCV. In order for you to complete this course successfully, you should be able to work with a group, allocate time necessary to complete the lab assignments in due time, be able to acquire readings/measurements/values and plotting them on a chart or use them for calculations. Student responsibility: While an instructor may drop a student who has poor attendance, it is the student's responsibility to withdrawal if he/she is unable to attend school. To drop a program, change form must be completed and returned to Admissions and Records Office. Make up: If you miss a class (lab section), you should talk to me ahead of time. There will be no make-up lab within your class section. Anyhow, please talk to me on how you can make -up lost time. Missing a test, it is your responsibility to schedule time with me


for missed test. You are only allowed to make- up a test if you missed due to conditions that out of your control and with a proof has to be submitted to me. Participation: Participation includes Lecture / Lab attendance with active involvement. In order for you to complete this course successfully, you should be able to work with a group, allocate time necessary to complete the lab assignments in due time, be able to acquire readings/measurements/values and plotting them on a chart or use them for calculations. Participation points are given on a daily basis per assignments. If you missed physically to attend and participate in the lab, that means you will not be eligible to earn the lab grade unless you made a make- up with my lab assistant. There will be daily homework and assignments that you must meet and submit prior to the deadlines. The assignments due dates will be located In the Assignments Index page in Canvas. Late work will be accepted with penalty of grade reduction up to 20% of the assignment total grade. Petitions for Grade Changes Students have two (2) years following the semester in which a questioned grade was recorded to request a change of grade. The request must be done through a petition process. After the two-year limit, the grade is no longer subject to change. Access to Grades GRADES ARE NOT MAILED! In the past, you were to access grade information for the term just completed by visiting ChaffeyVIEW at (www.chaffey.edu/chaffeyview), or by calling the Panther Line at (909) 652-7000. Grade information is available four weeks after the end of the term. However, if require your grade for employer reimbursement, please contact me to obtain a letter with your grade for this class. For your information, I have learned that stating Spring 2023 the grading and including the final grade will be all done in Canvas.
