JB’s World
NEXT TUESDAY JB is heading off to Orange
and onto Yeovil for the unveiling of a large bronze
sculpture of Major Andrew Barton “Banjo”
Paterson in the front of the Banjo Paterson …
more than a Poet Museum.
The Weekly Times readers know of our long
standing relationship with Banjo Paterson and
the fact he was born near Yeovil in the Orange dis-
trict and resided in the Ryde area at Gladesville
staying with his Grandmother at Rockend Village,
now Banjo Paterson restaurant, during his school
days in Sydney.
The Weekly Times relationship with Orange
grew stronger though the efforts of Orange long-
time deputy mayor Chris Gryllis and councillors
and citizens of Orange with their association with
our Granny Smith Festival held every October in
Eastwood in the City of Ryde.

Unfortunately this year our cherry picking was
disrupted because of the dreaded
Cononavirus which also blocked our Granny
Smith Festival celebrations this year.
However, we hope that life may return to some
form of normality this year.
In the meantime my trip to Orange and onto
Yeovil in my humble attempt to keep the dream
alive and maintain some form of contact with our
country cousins.
