TWT Centenary Cricket Cup Presentation
The Weekly Times Cup was presented
by TWT Editor John F Booth AM together
with former Australian Test cricket cap-
tain Steve Waugh at the Senior Churches
and Inner West Harbour Cricket associa-
tions presentation dinner at Ryde-East-
wood Leagues Club last Friday night.
Presentation commemorated the
founding of the then Gladesville Crick-
et Association by The Weekly Times
founder Charles H Engisch in 1921 who
remained a committee member and Pa-
tron of the original Association.
John F Booth has maintained the
founder’s vision of community involve-
ment as the current editor and proprietor
of the fiercely independent newspaper
as it prepares to celebrate its centenary
on September 1 this year.
Cricketer of the Year was named as Sai
Yogeswaran and presented with the Con
Jansson Cup with 824 runs at 51.5.
Inner West Harbour Cricket Associa-
tion is in the process of merging with
the NSW Churches Cricket Association
which will expand the current cricket
playing structure from Balmain to Par-
ramatta and up through Ryde districts.

Unemployment is now down to 5.5%, with 74,000 more people in jobs than we had before
the pandemic!
The Government’s plan is working.
This year’s Budget includes:
* Further tax relief for 72,100 low and middle-income earners in Bennelong
* Record investment in skills and training, which will support the 1,450 apprentices
currently in Bennelong
* The expanded instant asset write off will benefit 23,200 local businesses, helping
them to invest – from tradies buying vehicles, to local manufacturers expanding their
production lines
* Encouraging home ownership by expanding the First Home Super Saver Scheme,
helping 10,000 more first home buyers build a home with 5% deposit and 10,000 single
parents purchase a home with a 2% deposit
* A 10-year, $110 billion infrastructure pipeline to ease congestion, improve safety
and build our economic future
* New medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
* Nearly $18 billion in new funding to significantly improve the aged care system
* Further mental health funding
* Record funding for schools, hospitals, women’s safety and disability support.
* Increasing the affordability of childcare for around 1,410 local Bennelong families,
who will be better off by an average of $2,200 each year.
* Further investment in technologies to reduce greenhouse emissions, like clean hydrogen
and energy storage.

Tips to improve your sleep
Did you know, according to the National
Sleep Foundation:
• Sleep is just as important as healthy eating and exercise.
• Sleep deprivation can have the same effects as alcohol on the body.
• People who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to have bigger ap-
petites because their Leptin levels (Leptin is an appetite- regulating hor-
mone) fall, promoting appetite increase.
• In general, most healthy adults need 7-9 hours of sleep.
How to get a better night’s sleep:
• The National Sleep Foundation recommends that you should stop using
electronic devices, like your phone- at least 30 minutes before bed.
• This is because the blue light from your phone interrupts your bodies
internal clock and rhythm.
• This blue light stimulates your brain and may keep you awake, resulting
in a restless sleep.
• Limit caffeine consumption before bed.
• Relax your mind in the evening- perhaps read a book to wind down ☐ Isabella Laguzza - your local Queen of Health and Fit-
