Welcome

to Chaldon Village Fete 2022, being held for the first time
at Chaldon’s National Trust property,

Six Brothers Field

We are back! Chaldon Fete had been held annually since 1946 until
the covid pandemic prevented it from taking place in 2020 and 2021.
Traditionally held in the village school, the expansion of the school this
year has prevented the Fete from taking place there. The Fete is now being
held at its new home, the normally tranquil Six Brothers Field, see map
opposite. The field was given to the National Trust in 1926 by Martin Coles
Harman for the benefit of the residents of Chaldon.

The Fete Committee thank the National Trust for their permission to
use the field for the event and Chaldon Cricket Club for their support in
making this possible, as well as the many organisations and individual
residents who have worked together to restore the Fete to its rightful place
at the heart of the village.

This year the theme of the Fete is ‘back to normal life’ with traditional stalls,
bouncy castles, a tea tent, animals to pet and the popular dog show. Teas,
cakes, Pimms and soft drinks will be available on the field. Entertainment
will include our ‘Punch and Judy’ show and music from the very popular
Rock Choir. Please bring lots of cash as payment by card will be limited.

Entry to the Fete is FREE this year to celebrate our return. Please enter via
Willey Broom Lane from Rook Lane. Cars can park in designated areas on Six
Brothers Field and will leave the Fete through the Hilltop Lane gate.

Many local commercial companies and organisations support the Fete.
Please support them in return. Special thanks go to Rawlings Opticians
who have sponsored this Fete programme with a generous donation
towards its cost.

Six Brothers Field

Local Management Committee

The National Trust are
delighted to support
Chaldon’s fete once again
by making Six Brothers
Field available not only
for car parking, but to host
the fete for the first time.

Six Brothers Field was given to the National Trust in 1926 by Martin
Coles Harman, a Chaldon resident.

A National Trust committee made up of Chaldon residents
manages the field, which is used for informal recreation and
community events, as well as being home to Chaldon Scouts and
Guides and Chaldon Cricket Club. The Cricket Club play a significant
role in maintaining the field.

During the summer months, you are invited to walk around the mown
path at the edge of the field and enjoy the meadow area which is
home to a diverse range of native British wildflowers.

The local management committee encourages the local
community to feel a sense of ownership of the field and promotes
its use we have provided an information board on the field to
stimulate interest.

If you would like any further information on the Field, or would like
to get involved, please drop an email to sixbrothersfi[email protected]
