Burfields House Corporate Responsibility The actions of companies have significant impact on the lives of people all round the world. Not just in terms of the products and services they offer but also in terms of working conditions, human rights, health, the environment, innovation, education and training. As a company that looks to support its clients for the long-term and across generations, Burfields House recognises climate change to be one of the major challenges facing the world and is aiming to reduce its environmental impact through business activities and funds under management. We know that many of our clients expect the principles of responsible investing to be incorporated in St. James’s Place investment approach and they employ these principles in the management of clients’ assets, not least through awareness and integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into its investment process. SJP’s external fund managers that are responsible for managing clients’ funds are encouraged to support responsible investing. For example, the Sustainable & Responsible Equity fund provides a solution for investors wanting to invest in a strategy that is positively contributing to a more sustainable global economy. The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

Burfields House Charitable Endeavours Working to improve the welfare of others throughout the world and supporting within our local communities is a very important aspect of our business. As part of our commitment to help support and raise money for charity, the Burfields House team regularly participates in local, national, and international fundraising and volunteering events. Whether it is barbequing and selling sausages at local fairs, home baked cake sales, volunteering and helping to landscape and transform school facilities and residents’ gardens, taking part in sponsored walks and challenges or, as in Robin’s case, a mammoth trek through Nepal to Everest Base Camp, every event is undertaken with dedication and a willingness to give our time and energy to very worthy causes. Financial Education We believe that understanding and learning to manage personal finances should start at an early age. The Burfields House team organise and take part in an interactive financial education programme at schools in the local area. The workshops have proved popular with those taking part and provide information and support to the children and young people which helps to develop their understanding and gain confidence, helping them to make good financial choices in the future.
