• I will not use ICT as a means of bullying others.
• I will not download or even try to download any software or other
copyrighted material.
• I will be extremely cautious about revealing any personal details, and
will never reveal my home address or telephone number in e-mails to
strangers.
• I will not use other people’s user IDs or passwords, even with their
permission.
• If I am planning any activity for a legitimate project (e.g. research into
terrorism) which might risk breaking this policy, I will ensure that my
teacher knows what I am doing and has given written permission.

Assessment for Learning
Learning Objectives
These are the things you are aiming to learn.
They will be discussed with you by your tutor at the start of the learning.
They will probably be displayed.
At the end of the lesson you should review the objectives.
Success Criteria
These tell you what you need to do to be successful in your learning.
Your teacher will discuss these with you before you start your task
and will make them clear.
They will be what your work is assessed against.
Peer Assessment and Self Assessment
This is when you assess each other's and your own learning using the
Success Criteria discussed at the start of the learning.
Always consider:
what you have done well; what you could improve; how you could improve.
Feedback
This is when someone tells you how well you are doing in your learning.
This can be verbal or written and should help you to understand what you are
doing well and what you need to do to improve.
Reviewing and Reflecting
This is the process of deciding how you can improve, and setting targets. It will
help with deciding on the next step.

Presentation of Work & Homework
Presentation of Work
• Write in blue or black ink only.
• Label your exercise books and folders with your name, tutor group,
class and subject teacher.
• Always have a margin on the left and keep it as clear as possible.
• If using loose leaf sheets, write your name on the right.
• All work should be dated on the right hand side, with an underlined
heading in the centre of the page. Page references and exercise
details should be written on the left hand side, where appropriate.
• All completed work should be checked through for errors and ruled
off across the page.
• All drawings should be in pencil and a ruler should be used for
straight lines.
Homework
Homework is important and necessary. Homework completed
regularly throughout your five years at Carrington School will
add the equivalent of a year’s study to your final grades.
• Try to do your homework at the same time each day in a quiet place
where you are free from distraction.
• You are likely to achieve more by working regularly for relatively
short periods (say 1 hour at a time) than in a single long session,
when your concentration will lapse.
• Above all plan ahead to make the best use of time and do not leave
projects, coursework or homework until the last minute. Your
Student Planner is designed to help you with this.
