Catholic Values Formation

As a Catholic school, we are dedicated to nurturing
our students the 5 Catholic core values – Truth,
Justice, Love, Family, and Life. We hope that our
students will achieve excellence in both virtues and
academics. Therefore, one of the major concerns
this year is ‘To learn from Christ and nurture servant
leaders who show love, care, compassion and
respect for others’.
Apart from the subject Ethics and Religious
Education in the school’s curriculum, we also boost
the school’s religious atmosphere through different
symbols, such as the School Chapel, the Marian
shrine, and the stained glasses outlining the story
of creation. Besides, to enrich students’ spiritual
growth, we organise a range of experiences such as
pilgrimage tours, community services, and thematic
faith formations. We hope that Shungtakians –
through participating in the Catholic Society, prayer
services, morning sharing, and different charity
work – will develop a values system compatible with
Catholicism.

天主教價值培育

崇德作為一所天主教學校,我們致力以教會的五個核
心價值,即真理、公義、愛德、家庭及生命來培育學
生。我們期望崇德的學生在品德及學業上都能臻於至
善,因此,本校今年的關注事項是「以基督為師,培育
學生成為僕人領袖,展現愛心、關懷和憐憫,並尊重
他人」。

除了於正規課程中設立倫理與宗教科外,校園四周均
有以創世紀為主題的玻璃彩繪畫佈置,亦設有小聖堂
及聖母岩,讓學生能多親近天主,營造濃厚的宗教氛
圍。此外,為了豐富學生的宗教體驗以及推動靈性教
育,本校亦曾舉辦海外文化宗教朝聖團、義工服務及
主題性的信仰培育活動。期望學生透過參與天主教
同學會、各祈禱禮儀、聆聽早會分享以及各種愛德服
務,建立符合天主教精神的良好價值觀。

The English Advantage

At Shung Tak, we always take pride in the rich and
genuine English environment conducive to language
learning. Our strong teaching team is formed by
experienced and well-qualified teachers with
different cultural backgrounds, including the UK, US,
Trinidad & Tobago, India, and Hong Kong.
In addition to the plethora of big and small English
activities organised by the English Department, the
English Society, and the Avid Readers Club, students
are also encouraged to employ the language in
authentic situations through excursions, study tours,
outreach programmes, as well as participation in
various external competitions.
Through working hard and playing hard, Shungtakians
will become well-equipped in their use of English as
they continue on their journey of growth.

Diversified Learning Self-RegulatedLearning

多元學習

In order to promote self-regulated learning and
nurture students to become self-directed learners,
different departments will arrange various outings
and field trips to encourage students to learn
through exploration and discovery, hence acquiring
valuable knowledge beyond the textbook.
In addition to active participation, these experiences
also look for students’ initiative as they act as
‘practitioners’ of their learning. For instance, our
S5 and S6 students will discuss with their English
teachers where they would like to visit during
their English excursion, how it is run, as well as
the content and format of the post-visit task. We
believe that through these chances to take charge,
students’ learning motivation can be raised and they
will be more engaged in the learning process. This
can, ultimately, lead to greater inspiration from the
learning activities.

為培養學生自主學習的精神,使他們成為主動尋求學
問的學習者,本校各科組均會籌辦不同的校外考察活
動,鼓勵學生從探究中學習,並透過實踐獲取課本以
外的知識。

這些學習體驗不但著重學生的積極參與,更講求他們
的主動性。例如中五及中六級的英文科考察活動,學
生須與老師商討參觀的地方、活動的主題及形式,以
及活動後的匯報安排。本校相信這些互動和參與能
提升學習動機,令學生更投入學習的過程,從中獲得
更大啟發。

課外活動及其他學習經歷

Our Student Activities Committee, through providing support to
all student groups to plan and organize extracurricular activities,
aims to develop in students the skills and attitude needed for self-
regulated learning.
For junior form students, we have the Self-Development Project
to nurture students’ talents in sports, music, dance, drama, art,
and STEM through a variety of interest classes. We also have the
Leadership Training Programme to train future leaders who will serve
the school and the community with the heart of a servant leader.
With the service of the Students’ Union, 4 Houses, 29 Clubs, and
2 Uniform Groups, we hope students’ school life and learning
experiences can be enriched and that each and every Shungtakian
13 can attain all-round development.

本校學生活動組致力推行及統籌各項學生活動,以培育崇德學生 Self-RegulatedLearning
自我學習的技能和態度。其中「崇德人自我發展計劃」主要針對中
一至中三學生,透過鼓勵同學參加不同的興趣班,使他們能於體
育、音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、藝術、科學等方面發展所長。而「領袖培訓
計劃」則予以學生策劃及籌辦各項校內活動及社會服務的機會,
發揮其領導才能,培育他們成為僕人領袖。
此外,學生活動組希望藉著學生會、四社、二十九個學會及兩個制
服團隊所舉辦的多元化活動,豐富學生的校園生活,使每一個崇
德人都能得到全面的發展。

With the different modes of learning to cater for individuals, our students are well equipped with both knowledge
and skills to thrive in their academic pursuit.
In the 2019/20 academic year, our S6 students continued to make the school proud with their excellent results in
the HKDSE Examination. 77.5% of our graduates attained Level 4 or above in English Language; and our overall
‘Level 4 or above’ rate was 67.1%, which is significantly higher than the average of 35.6% among all candidates.

Apart from academic excellence, our school also places much
emphasis on values education to instill into our student the
positive virtues of love and care. As a Catholic school in particular,
we hope our students can take Christ as their role model and
serve from the bottom of their hearts; and that they can be the
channels to spread love and care to all corners of the community.
Our uniform groups, Catholic Society, and volunteer team
‘Permeance’ all actively organize and participate in different
voluntary services, ranging from bazaars to visits, through which
students are encouraged to contribute to society and put into
practice the spirit of ‘To serve but not to be served’.

Parent Teacher Association

家長教師會
Acting as a bridge between the school and parents, the Parent
Teacher Association plays an important role in the development
of Shung Tak. Apart from regular meetings with parents and
teachers, we also organize various talks, workshops, and
voluntary services to improve communication between parents
and children, as well as to build closer bonds among parents.
For the betterment of the school and for quality education of
our children, we contribute funds each year for school functions
and facilities to support diversified learning of Shungtakians. The
Parent Teacher Association also offers scholarship to graduates
with outstanding HKDSE results to encourage students to strive
for academic excellence.
家長教師會乃學校與家長之間的重要橋樑,一直擔當著不可或
缺的重要角色。家長教師會除了定期舉行會議外,亦因應各位
家長的興趣和需要,不時舉辦不同主題的家長講座、親子同樂
日、親子工作坊及義工服務等,不但增進了家長與子女間的感
情,也促進了家長之間的聯繫。
此外家長教師會亦會贊助校方不同類型的活動及頒發獎學金予
於文憑試中表現傑出的學生,鼓勵同學有多元化的發展並追求
卓越。

校友會

Founded in 1965, the Shung Tak Catholic English College
Alumni Association is formed by alumni who hold a
strong sense of belonging to the school even years after
their graduation. For decades, members of the Alumni
Association have contributed funds for the expansion
of the school campus and the improvement of school
facilities. Alumnus Mr. Edward Wong, in particular, set up
the Wong & Poon Solicitors Scholarship to encourage
our S6 students to perform their best in the HKDSE
Examination.

校友會自1965年成立至今,已有五十多年光景。崇德校友
對母校有著強烈的歸屬感,對崇德的學弟、學妹們更是眷
顧愛護,各屆校友不時捐款支持擴建及改善校舍設施。當
中校友王光榮先生,為了鼓勵學弟學妹取得優異的學業成
績,設立了不設上限的「王潘律師行獎學金」,以鼓勵同學
爭取佳績。
